I knew a guy named North, sort of. He was a friend of my sister's. An eccentric sort of person, tall and quiet seeming but really witty. It comes off as quirky, but if it's in your family's comfort zone I think it's perfectly usable. Surnamey, maybe. Very masculine IMO.Combos are hard because they always make North sound like it modifies the middle name... like a street name. I'd probably just pick something honoring, something without a lot of hissing sounds (F, TH, S, CH, SH) in it because it'd sound lispy with the th in North. From your list, North Benedict sounds pretty good.
