[Opinions] Adapted Nicknames
I recently got a puppy back around Christmas and named her Georgie. I've noticed that, without consciously thinking about it, I call her Georgie-Pie, shortening the rhyme "Georgie porgie pudding and pie."I know I'm talking about a dog, but does anyone else know someone or go by an "adapted" nickname? Even made up or uncommon nicknames could count. For example, I remember hearing about a guy named Christopher. He wanted a distinctive nickname, so instead of Chris or Topher he went by Isto. I thought it was kind of neat!

My friends and I have kind of mastered the art. Most of them are really just for our personal use (Sally = Finnegan even though it isn't her last name. Kimberly = Kimmy Jean/KayJo. I (Jade) = Ronald/Freckles/Fecks. Victoria = Toad. Stephanie = Neffers. Adam = Abba. Jacleene = Queenie. etc..) But some have moved outside. My friend Heather is known as Heds/Hedder/Hedsy, Benjamin has become Benjly or Jama/Jemma, Lyle has become Dash , Rose is now Posy, Adele is Ma belle and my friend Abigail goes by Gail rather than Abby (which I love).
Isto is really creative, I like it.

I know a Christopher called "Crit". I also knew a Kristen called Ten. I notice that I tend to double things when making up nonsense names. My one cat is called Pretty-Pretty, and the other, Bijou, is often "Bijou-Beej".

My uncle's name is Nicholas, and if it were me, I'd go by Cole, but he goes by Las. Also, my neighbor's name is Gabrielle, and she didn't want to be another Gaby, so she goes by Brielle.

When I was in junior high, I had an eccentric math teacher. One day, she decided that it made no sense that everyone named Benjamin had the nn Ben and never Jamin, so for the rest of the year she called the one Ben in our class "Jamin". Everyone was quite amused.

HaThis greatly amuses me, since Benjamin is my son's name. My brother calls him Ben Jammin'.
