Jasper and Emmy have recently celebrated their 40th anniversary as a couple. The whole family gathered together, virtually taking over a resort in Barbados to spend time together as a group for the first time in several years (what with various in-laws and geographical distance, gathering the entire family at one time proves tricky). The week was idyllic with Jasper and Emmy reaffirming their love to each other with a commitment ceremony. The couple spend less time in New York now and have sold the large family ten-bedroom townhouse where their family was raised in favour of a more intimate Manhattan loft. With the continual birth of grandchildren and marriages being celebrated, Jasper and Emmy have retired from their full-time jobs, instead focusing on charitable commitments and visiting their diverse family across the globe.
Scout and Harry have settled in South Africa with their daughters Petra and Adele and the new addition to the family, son Orson . The family moved to South Africa due to an opportunity granted to Harry to be the principal of a newly opened charitable school whose pupils attend lessons with the aid of generous scholarships that help support their families and provide for their villages back home. Whilst Scout is kept busy with the children, she enjoys volunteering with rape victims and campaigning for stricter laws against rape and persecution of rapists. Petra is doing well with the move although she does miss her friends from school in Addis Adaba. Her free-time is spent doing gymnastics and horse-riding and occasionally helping with her father's evening classes for adults at the school. Adele is also doing well, having started at a mainstream school with the help of an assistant to aid her with her difficulties. She has made friends easily despite her disability and is only slightly behind her classmates academically. Baby Orson is a loved and contented baby who enjoys nothing more than playing in the pool with his big sisters.
Huck and Cecily are as in love as ever and have added two more little ones to their family - two-year-old Jonas and newborn baby Maisie . Their elder children are now quite adept at welcoming new siblings into the family, although Cecily does not wish to have any more biological children, feeling that six is plenty and not wanting to take the risks of conceiving a child after 35. Huck still works at Amnesty International and has recently been promoted to head of the Asia office, a busy job that requires long hours, dedication and often trips away from his family. Whilst this is hard on them all, Huck and Cecily work hard to ensure that their children feel loved and understand the importance of Daddy's job helping others. Ben has now joined the debate team at school and, along with his friend Isaiah has began producing a monthly school 'newspaper' containing opinion pieces by students and even a 'gossip' section! Tamara is now also in school and idolises her older brother. Her greatest desire in life is to have him accept an article by her for the paper. George has had some problems with his speech but is now seeing a speech therapist and making steady, albeit slow progress. This has rather hindered his ability to make friends and Cecily and Huck are anxious that he is able to improve. Ada is a real homebody, wanting to spend all of her time mothering her younger siblings, tending to her patch of the garden and making breakfast each morning with her Daddy.
Almost immediately after giving birth Stella and Jack decided that they wanted to have another baby. Stella was dismayed when they did not fall pregnant immediately as they had done with Johnny. After two years of trying they contacted a fertility expert who assured them that there was nothing wrong with them and sure enough, a month later Stella had a positive pregnancy test and welcomed baby Nora earlier this year. Johnny had wanted a brother desperately but loves his little sister regardless, although he does regularly talk about "when I get my brother". Stella and Jack have decided to wait another year and then leave it up to fate to see whehter or not they will expand their family to five children. With two young children to care for Stella has little time for writing and so has turned to writing short stories instead of novels and is in the process of editing the final draft of her first volume of stories which are hotly anticipated. Jack has also decided to slow his career to spend more time with his family and is recording a solo album with an independent label in London, the proceeds of which will go to animal welfare charities. Georgina is now at university studying to become a vet. Jack and Stella are glad that she has decided to study in London, especially as Bella is now dancing at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York. Whilst they are incredibly proud of Bella's talent the distance is difficult to cope with and only made tolerable by knowing that Bella is close to family and especially her grandparents Emmy and Jasper whilst in New York. Bella's relationship with Roberto is flourishing and Roberto consequently made the decision to move to New York with her. Whilst it can be hard to find work as a dancer in New York, Roberto's handsome face, Italian charm and passionate talent ensure that he is in hot demand for music videos and Broadway shows.
Annie and Simon have now been happily settled in Belgium for five years and could not imagine being anywhere else in the world, planning to spend their retirement in the medieval town of Bruges. Simon is still with the United Nations and is now learning Mandarin Chinese to add to his already impressive resume of languages (English, Hungarian, French, Flemish, Spanish and Arabic). Freddie has followed in Simon's footsteps, spending his summer holidays teaching English to children at summer camps and studying Japanse, Spanish and Russian at Cambridge University. Katalin has started at school now, and although she is rather boisterous and often unfocused, when she sets her mind to it she does very well and excels at sports.
After fostering almost 20 newborn babies on a short-term basis (usually in cases where the mother was ill and needed to remain in hospital after the birth for a week or two) both Soph and Alf were stunned to meet baby Frankie who instantly felt like their daughter when placed in their care (not to say that any of the other babies had been less cared for). Soph made tentative inquires and discovered that the baby was to be put up for adoption as her birth parents did not feel capable of caring for her once they discovered that she is blind and that social services were happy for her to remain where she was whilst Soph and Alf filed for adoption which they did, legally becoming Frankie's parents a week before her first birthday. They intend in the future to adopt at least one more child, possibly a boy to balance their predominantly female family. Tilly is working hard in school and excelling at science to achieve her goal of becoming a pediatric surgeon. Mia is equally hard at work, volunteering at the local youth club managed by Alf and taking particular interest in the social worker assigned to Soph and Alf's adoption process. Soph continues to teach self-defence and art classes at the centre.
Linden and Esmé have had a rough couple of years. Linden wants to start a family now but Esmé does not feel that the timing is right with her career as a dancer. She feels that when she comes to retirement age in two or three years the time will be perfect for a baby but Linden is impatient. As a compromise the pair have adopted a dog from the local shelter who they named Truman, a play on dogs as man's best friend and have began attending couple's therapy as they both value their relationship and recognise each other as their soulmate. The pair are now living in Beverly Hills and Linden choreographs in major motion pictures whilst Esmé is now playing a dancer on a major new sitcom. Having won three Oscars between themselves in the past four years, Linden and Esmé are in the happy situation of being able to choose projects that they are truly passionate about.
Unfortunately after only two years of marriage Keziah and Vilmos announced to their stunned family that they were divorcing. Vilmos, it would appear had been having a long-term affair with an instructor at the couple's Indian yoga retreat and was now eloping with her to Peru. Keziah was left devastated, especially when she heard the news that Vilmos's new wife had given birth to a daugther with the rather ugly name 'Audrey Clarissa'. Keziah threw herself into her work and a year later fell head-over-heels in love with backpacker Seb who was staying at the retreat for a week with friends while travelling India to celebrate their thirtieth birthdays. A week quickly turned into a fortnight, then a month and Seb soon quit his job in England to be with Keziah. The pair have decided to take things slowly; Seb too has experienced a painful divorce from a cheating spouse but Emmy and Jasper both secretly know that the pair have a bright future together with love, happiness and children.
Emma and Liesel are married now and have set up their Balinese yoga retreat in partnership with Keziah's. Although initially reluctant to leave their heartbroken friend, Seb's arrival in India spurred the pair on in their move to the Indonesian island where they are now happily settled with son Charlie . Charlie has developed quite the passion for yoga like his mums and Auntie Kez and teaches a weekend teen class at the retreat when not busy at school. He plans to qualify as a yoga instructor and personal trainer upon leaving school, although he is not yet sure whether he wants to remain settled in Bali or move further afield to explore the world.
Out of all of the Bryson-Harper children these past years have been most life-changing for Tamar who has now settled in LA, close to her elder brother Linden and his wife Esmé. Whilst working at Cedars-Sinai Esmé introduced Tamar to her costar, the Oscar award winning actor Ike Mendelsohn. Ike and Tamar had an instant connection and within six months were married. Luckily for Tamar, Ike's four children ( Flora , Alice , Celia and Asher ) are delighted with their new stepmother as they can see how happy their father is for the first time in years. The press however had a field day with Ike's pretty new young wife and adjusting to life followed by paparazzi cameras was a big adjustment for studious Tamar although she was lucky to have Linden and Esmé help her through the attention which only intensified when she became pregnant quickly after the marriage with Miranda , a cherubic little girl with ringlets who has all of the family wrapped around her chubby fingers and then the twins Susie and Pip . Ike had always wanted a large family, but had never quite planned on having seven children! However, this is one of life's curve balls that he was most happy to accept, especially after becoming a widow so young. He is even open to the idea of having more children, although with Tamar's busy career this may not be for some time yet.
Ivy and the man-next-door Federico are now married and as passionately in love as ever. When teenaged Ivy had been abandoned by Paul Emmy had been devastated for the girl and is so thrilled that Ivy now has the most attentive, loving and thoughtful partner possible to go through life with. Federico has become such a strong father figure to Ivy's daughter India that India requested her surname be changed from her biological father's to her stepfather's after the wedding. Both Ivy and Federico were thrilled that she felt this way. India and her 'Papa' remain close and, although he does not like to admit it, she is beating him more and more often with ease at Scrabble. Federico now owns his own gym and wellness centre which has proven to be a success due to the positive and healthy atmospher exuded by Federico and his dedicated staff. Ivy runs the attached restaurant and smoothie bar and the pair are planning to expand the business soon, although they have been busy in recent years after welcoming daughters Daisy and Leila who are so close they are regularly mistaken for twins.
Two years ago the Bryson-Harper family were struck by tragedy when Asa was diagnosed with cancer, passing away only a month after leaving behind a heartbroken young fiancée, Lucy. Jasper and Emmy were devastated to lose their passionate, intelligent young son so soon before he could reach his full potential. A month after Asa's death Lucy called with the bittersweet news that she was expecting. Baby Gabriel has gone a long-way to mending the broken-hearted Bryson-Harper family although there will always be a distinctly Asa-shaped hole.
Asa's death had a profound impact on Ivo who had always been very close to his older brother; the pair had grown up sharing everything from a bedroom to clothes to friends and interests. However, Ivo did graduate on time with a strong degree in psychology. The evening of graduation Ivo and his girlfriend Laura surprised their family by announcing that they were going to marry the very next day in a simple surprise backyard ceremony. It was just the type of celebration of life and love that the Bryson-Harper family needed. Laura and Ivo are now thrilled to be expecting their first child together, a boy to be named Finn Sawyer. Laura is working on a doctorate thesis which she hopes to have completed by Finn's birth and Ivo has started work as a psychologist for victims of sexual abuse and attack.
Sidony and Shiloh both graduated from university with first class honours in international relations and began work in diplomacy, Sidony settling in Paris and Shiloh in Rome. Whilst Sidony is enjoying living in Europe and travels at every given opportunity with her girlfriends, Shiloh has settled into married life with her new husband, long-term love Andrew who works at the British embassy in Rome.
Dash has now graduated university and has settled for the time being in Edinburgh where he lives with friends he met in Paris and works as an intern curator at The National Museum of Scotland. The work pays poorly but Dash is passionate and committed and his bosses have taken notice; hopefully promotion is in the near future.

Keziah was left devastated, especially when she heard the news that Vilmos's new wife had given birth to a daugther with the rather ugly name 'Audrey Clarissa'. Keziah threw herself into her work and a year later fell head-over-heels in love with backpacker Seb who was staying at the retreat for a week with friends while travelling India to celebrate their thirtieth birthdays. A week quickly turned into a fortnight, then a month and Seb soon quit his job in England to be with Keziah. The pair have decided to take things slowly; Seb too has experienced a painful divorce from a cheating spouse but Emmy and Jasper both secretly know that the pair have a bright future together with love, happiness and children.
Emma and Liesel are married now and have set up their Balinese yoga retreat in partnership with Keziah's. Although initially reluctant to leave their heartbroken friend, Seb's arrival in India spurred the pair on in their move to the Indonesian island where they are now happily settled with son Charlie . Charlie has developed quite the passion for yoga like his mums and Auntie Kez and teaches a weekend teen class at the retreat when not busy at school. He plans to qualify as a yoga instructor and personal trainer upon leaving school, although he is not yet sure whether he wants to remain settled in Bali or move further afield to explore the world.
Out of all of the Bryson-Harper children these past years have been most life-changing for Tamar who has now settled in LA, close to her elder brother Linden and his wife Esmé. Whilst working at Cedars-Sinai Esmé introduced Tamar to her costar, the Oscar award winning actor Ike Mendelsohn. Ike and Tamar had an instant connection and within six months were married. Luckily for Tamar, Ike's four children ( Flora , Alice , Celia and Asher ) are delighted with their new stepmother as they can see how happy their father is for the first time in years. The press however had a field day with Ike's pretty new young wife and adjusting to life followed by paparazzi cameras was a big adjustment for studious Tamar although she was lucky to have Linden and Esmé help her through the attention which only intensified when she became pregnant quickly after the marriage with Miranda , a cherubic little girl with ringlets who has all of the family wrapped around her chubby fingers and then the twins Susie and Pip . Ike had always wanted a large family, but had never quite planned on having seven children! However, this is one of life's curve balls that he was most happy to accept, especially after becoming a widow so young. He is even open to the idea of having more children, although with Tamar's busy career this may not be for some time yet.
Ivy and the man-next-door Federico are now married and as passionately in love as ever. When teenaged Ivy had been abandoned by Paul Emmy had been devastated for the girl and is so thrilled that Ivy now has the most attentive, loving and thoughtful partner possible to go through life with. Federico has become such a strong father figure to Ivy's daughter India that India requested her surname be changed from her biological father's to her stepfather's after the wedding. Both Ivy and Federico were thrilled that she felt this way. India and her 'Papa' remain close and, although he does not like to admit it, she is beating him more and more often with ease at Scrabble. Federico now owns his own gym and wellness centre which has proven to be a success due to the positive and healthy atmospher exuded by Federico and his dedicated staff. Ivy runs the attached restaurant and smoothie bar and the pair are planning to expand the business soon, although they have been busy in recent years after welcoming daughters Daisy and Leila who are so close they are regularly mistaken for twins.
Two years ago the Bryson-Harper family were struck by tragedy when Asa was diagnosed with cancer, passing away only a month after leaving behind a heartbroken young fiancée, Lucy. Jasper and Emmy were devastated to lose their passionate, intelligent young son so soon before he could reach his full potential. A month after Asa's death Lucy called with the bittersweet news that she was expecting. Baby Gabriel has gone a long-way to mending the broken-hearted Bryson-Harper family although there will always be a distinctly Asa-shaped hole.
Asa's death had a profound impact on Ivo who had always been very close to his older brother; the pair had grown up sharing everything from a bedroom to clothes to friends and interests. However, Ivo did graduate on time with a strong degree in psychology. The evening of graduation Ivo and his girlfriend Laura surprised their family by announcing that they were going to marry the very next day in a simple surprise backyard ceremony. It was just the type of celebration of life and love that the Bryson-Harper family needed. Laura and Ivo are now thrilled to be expecting their first child together, a boy to be named Finn Sawyer. Laura is working on a doctorate thesis which she hopes to have completed by Finn's birth and Ivo has started work as a psychologist for victims of sexual abuse and attack.
Sidony and Shiloh both graduated from university with first class honours in international relations and began work in diplomacy, Sidony settling in Paris and Shiloh in Rome. Whilst Sidony is enjoying living in Europe and travels at every given opportunity with her girlfriends, Shiloh has settled into married life with her new husband, long-term love Andrew who works at the British embassy in Rome.
Dash has now graduated university and has settled for the time being in Edinburgh where he lives with friends he met in Paris and works as an intern curator at The National Museum of Scotland. The work pays poorly but Dash is passionate and committed and his bosses have taken notice; hopefully promotion is in the near future.
