Matilda is pretty popular, yes. I guess that the song is so drilled into us all that even if we aren't consciously aware of it, Matilda is at the front of many people's minds. A lot of people support the idea of Waltzing Matilda becoming the national anthem, even, so Matilda is seen as a pretty 'Aussie' name by many.
