Jasper's reputation has really grown in the past few years and the money he has earned writing coloumns and opinion pieces has allowed him to give up his paid job with Amnesty International to focus full-time on his activism, travelling the world to give talks on human rights and even filming several successful television documentaries.
Emmy continues to blog frequently and has joined a panel of advisors at the United Nations specialising in women's rights and justice for rape victims. However, this job can be done from home allowing her to take in a further three young women and help them with raising their children.
Scout has decided to follow in Jasper's footsteps and has enrolled in Harvard Law School, hoping to specialise in human rights. Regularly top of her class, Scout fills her freetime with either studying or volunteering, single-handedly having set up a soup kitchen for the homeless and a sexual health clinic on campus.
Huck met Cecily Breckinridge on his first day as a pre-med student at Georgetown University. One week later and they were dating, another week and they were engaged. The pair, although madly in love, have decided not to marry until they have graduated, a decision that Jasper and Emmy support, surprised at their son's desire to marry when they themselves never have!
Stella has grown into a mature woman and loving mother, recently moving to London with her now five-year-old daughter Georgina and boyfriend Jack, also a young single parent to daughther Bella. Whilst Jasper and Emmy find the separation hard they see this as an opportunity of a lifetime for Stella who has found a job with a major publishing house and is working on a novel of her own whilst Jack stays at home with the girls during the day and plays in a band by night. Neither Stella nor Jack have any desire to expand their family further in the near future but their two daughters are delighted to be sisters instead of only children and get on fabulously together, although poor Jack lives through a daily routine of princess games, cupcakes and ballet lessons!
Shortly after Stella had given birth to Georgina another pregnant teenager moved in with the family. Annie had been abused by her step-father and upon discovering her pregnancy had ran away from home on the streets before a social worker brought her to Jasper and Emmy. Annie's son Freddie was born not long after, giving Annie new strength and courage. Whilst her time on the street and abuse mean that she never graduated high school, the birth of her son inspired Annie to study hard for her GED with help from Emmy. It was through working with Emmy that she discovered her talent for photography and upon gaining her diploma she got work with a rape charity, both as a photographer and as a councillor for people in similar situations to her own.
Soon Annie was followed by Soph, a scared young mother expecting twins. Soph is incredibly intelligent and stayed in school throughout her pregnancy although her parents religious beliefs caused them to abandon her. As an only child Soph originally found the chaos and fun in the Bryson-Harper household to be overwhelming. However, once her twins were born Soph began to appreciate the incredible kindness and love that her new family had for her and her daughters. She hopes in the future to be able to foster and adopt as her adoptive parents have.
Linden is doing well in school but he is especially talented at sport playing basketball, soccer, tennis and football all to high levels. It is dance that has one his heart though and he hopes to make a career as a choreographer and teacher after leaving school.
When Keziah came to her parents with a guilty look on her face they worried that she may herself have fallen pregnant, despite their work to raise awareness of the difficulties of teen pregnancy. This, however, was not the case: Keziah's best friend Emma was the one who was pregnant and her parents has thrown her out. Despite Jasper and Emmy's best efforts Emma's parents did not come around to the situation so Emma was welcome to stay in the Bryson-Harper household for as long as she needs and desires with the baby son she is expecting and planning to name Charlie.
