[Opinions] Re: R birth announcements

I'm trying to like Romilly. It has a very pretty sound. But it feels trendy. Can you give me some history / meaning to it?
I love Rowan so much for a boy. I know it's fair game for a girl since it's botanical. But I hate to see it used for girls because I know it will then have "girl germs" and no boy will want to have it. Thus another traditional male name is lost. It's silly, I know. But it's how it works. *sigh*

Romilly is the name of several communes in France. I guess it sounds like a name, but it looks tacky to me.
