Oh, I forgot to add in my post...I went to college with a guy named John Thomas (fn, ln). I'm sure he had a heck of a time with that one! At least amongst younger people it's not a very well-known slang term. In the US, anyway.

I mean... I've known the term since I was 14 or so, and I live in the U.S. :P I never thought of it as a scarcely-used term.
