Tale: The White Wolf*facepalms at Lycus' name*
A year after Remus' birth, Rudolph's father died, passing the crown and throne to him. Rudolph was surprised - his father had been a healthy man, and his sudden death was not an expected thing to happen. Soon, the family was forced to leave their little palace in the forest for the capital. Ariadne had to admit that being a queen in a stately castle was like a dream for her (she wondered if she was stately enough for such a post). Their first times were spent touring the castle, getting acquainted with various gentry, and they suddenly had less and less time for themselves.Rudolph's coronation happened fast, to compensate for the lack of a king, and he was soon relegated to his office. Ariadne was suddenly busied with requests for her to attend various banquets and meetings, but she hardly had the will to attend parties with two little children to watch over! Muirne was ecstatic at being a princess - she enjoyed exploring the castle and having maids to dress and primp her - but young Remus had not yet comprehended what the people expected of him as a crown prince. It was in this seemingly peaceful time that unrest began to stir. Severe investigations sent by the newly-crowned king had discovered that the witch who had threatened to carry off the prince Remus was located in a certain area of the kingdom. The problem is, she was not alone; there were many others of her kind there, and many werewolves who had decided to follow after her have become her protectors. Worse yet, the people in the area feared their influence, and resisted their arrest. Rudolph sent orders to retrieve the witch and her bands, but the unexpected happened: the county declared civil war.The war was a confusing matter for Rudolph. Already the populace were worried that their new king would be unfit to rule due to his werewolf past (a past, that in reality, he was every bit as able to return to), and the civil war certainly did not help matters. In the midst of the unrest, Ariadne delivered another child, prince Lycus. Lycus was a lovely addition to the royal family ("a spare," said the extremists, "in case Remus should turn traitor and join the werewolves"), but with the war brewing, Ariadne was worried that his childhood would not begin as peacefully as his siblings'.
