No, that's not entirely true.

we pronounce Sahnnuh, and
Sophie
is pronounced the Frecnh way, there's no a sound.
Anna
is, of course, prn. Ahnnah, and
Anne
is prn. Ahnnuh
I hope that this explains the pronounciation a bit
