I quite like it, actually. It's one of those ageless names I can imagine on both the youngest of babies and the eldest old ladies. (rhyming unintended...!)
The nickname Meredi seems a bit much, in that it has the same syllables as Meredith itself. I'd go with a shorter nickname, personally.
