[Opinions] Susan

I think Susan is a very good name.
I don't care for it at all. The sound of it is unappealing. It sounds sounds dull and not very feminine to me. I like Susannah, though.
I was justing thinking about Susan!
aw man I just wrote a huge response and lost it all, saaad.
Anyways I was watching a movie with Susan Hayward on TCM the other day and was justing thinking about how the time seems right for a Susan revival. It seems edgier and gutsier than Susannah, which is becoming almost hipster-rote for me. I used to hate Susan with a passion because I knew a super sourpuss Susan (she was a daycare worker and I was a kid), but it is growing on me in leaps and bounds.
In conclusion, I like Susan.

In order of preference, I'd go for Suzanne first, then Susannah (for family reasons) and finally Susan, but I like them all. The world is groaning under the weight of Susans in their 50s and 60s, but I always think of it as suitable for a character in a 1930s kids' book, like the Arthur Ransome stories. Healthy, positive, outdoor name.
I like it, mostly because of Narnia :P
I think it's very dated. I like Susannah so much more.
Nah, I prefer Susannah.
It's okay, but I prefer Susannah. Then again, it seems like most people prefer Susannah these days, so Susan would be a better, less common choice. I know a fairly young Susan, also. She's in her late twenties.
I like it. I've known a lot of nice Susans.
I love it. It's a classic and there's something strong and calm and friendly about it. I'd be happy to see a little Susan.
I don't dislike it but I do find it dated. I thought it very dated when I started high school & one was in my class. Since then I have met others my age & I don't find it that bad. It has a nice classic strong feel to it. I like it best without a nickname as Susie is too young/immature/ditzy sounding & Sue is definitely middle aged.
I actually didn't know it was seen as dated until I came to this site and heard the comments and saw when it was at its most popular. The only Susan I've ever known is my second cousin, who's 25. I think it has a really youthful feel to it, and could easily picture it on a little girl.

Seeing as its my mums name, I have trouble picturing it on anyone younger than 50. Still, would a million times rather meet a little Susan than a little Madison. I think if it wasn't my mums name, I'd like it alot more.
Actually typing this I realise that I quite like Susan- it's Sue that I can't stand! I do prefer Susanna(h), but still Susan is nice. If you can avoid Sue, that is. Susie would be sweet.

Susan isn't really that dated to me.
It's the same as Karen is - it's been used enough through the decades that it's far from unheard of it. I love the name.

What about the late Susan Atkins? She was kind of mean.
Good point, now that I've looked her up. Since I don't live in the US (and was born in '87) she did not contribute to my image of the name but I agree that she makes a horrible namesake.
Actually, I do associate the name with her and it does tarnish it for me. But objectively, I think it's a nice enough name, so that's how I answered.
I love Susan!
