_____________________________________________________________________________________Adam, after years of fear over the succession of Renoir, was welcomed back with open arms. King Etienne and Queen Jacqueline welcomed Belle the same way, never once saying anything about her being a commoner. All they saw was the incomparably beautiful and brave young woman who had saved their beloved only child. They saw how deeply in love the two were, and gave them a glorious wedding. All of Belle's family was there, and the king and queen showered them with rich gifts as well, even ordering the building of a comfortable new home on their land. Adam and Belle spent their time between her family, his family, and their own palace in the forest. Belle was popular with the people for her kindness and sharp intelligence and simply for beign one of them. They also loved her beauty: she was applauded for her thick dark hair, sparkling blue eyes with impossibly long lashes, and exquisite features almost as much as she was for the plans for a public university she put forth. It was a happy life, and to their delight Belle soon discovered she was pregnant! The two couldn't have been happier with one another, and the kingdom rejoiced to have an heir before the prince even took the throne. But as Renoir is a land simply overflowing with magic, it could not be expected that things would go simply. Before Belle had even started wearing larger gowns, the enchantress, Eglantine, she had met when she had saved Adam returned. But it was not a frindly visit for congratulations. It was a warning. The enchanter who had turned Adam into the Beast was still at large, having evaded the authorities that governed the world of enchanters. And it was worse. He was part of a band that had vowed to make enchanters lords over mortals, and their preferred method was by destroying benevolent ruling families. Adam was not the first heir they had cursed. There was a princess who they had sent a wicked stepmother to kill (luckily she had escaped for a time), six princes they had turned to swans (to be rid of all heirs; they had not known they had a little sister, though), and a prince turned to a frog, along with countless other atrocities committed against more royals and common folk who simply showed too much skill and ingenuity. The other enchanters were working tirelessly to help these people defeat their curses as Belle had helped Adam, but Eglantine had come to warn this royal couple. Their child could be in danger, and she was offering a protective spell. It wouldn't keep her from all harm of effect her life, but it would protect her from curses (the same spell had been intended to be applied to the baby princess of a nearby kingdom some years ago, but one of the evil enchanters had gotten there first and all the good one could do was soften the blow).Adam and Belle discussed it. Adam, having experienced the pain of the enchanter's curse, wanted to do anything to protect their child from the same fate, and Belle heartily agreed. Though not very far along, Belle was still full of the instinct to protect her child, and though part of her didn't like the thought of an enchantment on her child, she agreed it was for the best. Eglantine remained with them for the rest of the pregnany, acting as a sort of magical bodyguard lest they be attacked before the baby was born. This was not thought of as too unusual, as Eglantine was an old friend of the Renoir royal family. Belle carried to term with no problems or complications, and the birth itself went normally. The baby was a beautiful girl, just as beautiful as Belle according to everyone. The baby did share her dark hair and blue eyes, though in many respects she thought she resembled Adam more. Adam and she were both absolutely in love with their little girl from the first second they saw her, and they named her Mirabelle, meaning wonderful, as that was what she was. Rosalia was for the roses both her parents adored, Sophie was for Belle's mother, Celestina for her sky-blue eyes, and Mathilde after Belle. All of her grandparents as well as Belle's brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, absolutely adore her.The moment little Mirabelle was in her mother's arms, Eglantine began working spells of protection over her. For nearly half an hour she worked over her, her parents anxious. Finally she stood up and said, "If there's a spell that can get through that, it'll kill the enchanter to cast it. She's as protected as magic can make her." Belle and Adam were reassured, but still worry terribly. But they are able to forget it all when the gaze upon their sweet and beautiful daughter.
