The life of the von Saxewald family is becoming more stressed, as the affairs of the past are coming back to haunt them. The product of
Adelmar's affair with
Mary James, a now 7 year old girl named
Charlotte has arrived back in Bial following the death of her mother and her maternal grandparents, while for
Swanahilda, the poet
Glauco has returned to Bial after being commissioned to write a poem for the state funeral of the Dowager
Elizabeth.
Charlotte's return to Bial meant that
Adelmar would find it hard to hide his paternity as
Charlotte born a striking resemblance to himself and his eldest daughter
Rosmunda. In fact when
Swanahilda was out sourcing new servents for the castle she swore she saw her own child working a loom in a village where the unfortunate stable boy had lived.
Adelmar upon hearing of his wife's spotting, before dismissing her as being delusional headed out for the village. He met with his bastard daughter's "grandparents" and asked them if he could provide for the orphan girl as he felt a sorrow for a her. They agreed and
Adelmar set the family up in a nice farming house not far from his castle and provided them with new equipment to run their tailoring business.
Meanwhile
Glauco Abandonato was back on the scene. He was still greatly infatuated with
Swanahilda, so when the opportunity arose to come back to Bial and write for the royal family he couldn't refuse. At the first available instant he left court to visit
Swanahilda. She tried to persuade him to leave as upon seeing him her feelings that she had suppressed since forcing him to leave came flooding back.
Once
Swanahilda had realised that
Adelmar had in fact fathered a child with
Mary James, she felt as if she didnt need to respect their marriage anymore, besides since the longed for heir had been provided
Adelmar seemed less interested in her. She invited
Glauco to stay at one of the family's hunting lodges in the mountains and then "mysteriously" took up the hobby of hiking.
A few months after the return of
Glauco,
Swanahilda found herself pregnant again. She knew if was
Glauco's but to make
Adelmar think otherwise as soon as she realised, she summoned him to her bed chamber for several nights in a row. Then a month later informed him that she was with child.
The "premature" babe was born, another boy to carry on the von Saxewald name. He was named
Haribert Emmerich Leuthar,
Haribert after
Swanahilda's half brother,
Emmerich after his paternal grandfather and
Leuthar after a poem by
Glauco, which he had written about his forbidden love of
Swanahilda, althought
Adelmar was lead to believe the name was after the national saint.
