Rank: Lord and Lady de BourbonABOUT THEIR FAMILIES
The de Bourbon family, though French in name, are truly Bialan: Maurice's father was born in Bial before the anti-French feelings started to be aroused in people. The Kaufmann family have been living in Bial as far back in their family history to truly know where they originated from. They believe themselves to be true Bialans.ABOUT THEIR PAST
Kora's father, Ludwig, and Claude's father, Maurice, were business partners. Though being Lord of a manor in Bial, Maurice was a hard working man. He teamed up with Ludwig, and they are the co-owners of the general store for their part of town. As Kora was his only child, and a daughter to boot, Ludwig saw nothing wrong with giving her hand in marriage to Maurice's son, even before Kora was old enough to understand such concepts. Thus, Claude and Kora were in an arranged marriage from the time Kora was born.Claude and Kora, affectionately called Kay from the time she could respond to such names, never really liked each other growing up. Granted, it was mostly because they were always told they were going to be the future of the two families; neither had a say in the matter. Claude didn't want to own the general store; he wanted to travel the world and meet beautiful and exotic women. Kay just wanted to be a princess, like any young girl wanted to be. Neither, of course, got their wish.Claude was able to get a break when he was able to go away to university, to learn business and the different things that came with it. Maurice wanted his son to have a proper education like he did. Kay was also glad to finally be able to do something without having to be near Claude. Now there was nothing wrong with Claude, and he was even mildly handsome. But from the time she was born she was rebellious and hated being told what to do. She didn't understand why she couldn't choose for herself if she wanted to marry Claude or not. Which was, of course, a not; he was her childhood playmate, not a man to marry. She wanted to marry a prince, and she couldn't help but dream of marrying [then] Prince Walter or Prince Joseph. But when Claude came back to town, a few days before her eighteenth birthday, Kay knew that she couldn't change her fate. Kay and Claude were married right after Kay's eighteen birthday. They moved into the house their parents had given to them as a wedding present. For the first six months of their marriage, Claude and Kay never even shared a bed. Kay did the housework and whatever needed to be done, and Claude managed the general store. They barely even talked.Kay was bored with the marriage, like she knew she would be. Claude was quiet and awkward; quiet when they were younger and it didn't really matter. Now that they were married, Kay found it annoying and inappropriate. She dreamed of a husband that would hold her and kiss her, and treat her like a princess even if she wasn't one.ABOUT THE PRESENT
Now, six months after their initial marriage night, they still have yet to sleep in the same bed. Kay was never one for adultery; she saw how such things killed a reputation. But she didn't know what she would do if Claude continued to be an awkward husband. Most women would have been well on their way to having their first child by now, something that Kay wouldn't mind. Kay could hear the women talking in their town, and it wasn't something Kay was going to stand for. She tried to talk to Claude during dinner, but he stone-walled her every time. She even tried to sneak into his bedchambers, but she found that he locked the door. So, Kay turned her attention to the royal family, something she wished to be a part of for most of her life. She felt horrible for Princess Adelheid, having to be so young and already being married. Kay didn't even want to be married, and she had two years on the sixteen-year-old. And she found all the hub-bub about the Queen producing a male heir completely medieval. If kings could use girls as barters in a game, there's no reason why the Queen should be crucified for not producing a male.

Rank: Lord and Lady de BourbonAfter going another couple of months without having much contact with her husband outside of breaking their fast and supper, Kay was just about fed up with it. So, one night, she lashed out at Claude, telling him that if he wasn't going to make her a true married woman, she would have someone else do it. The result was such and angry Claude she thought he would strike her. Instead, a feel weeks later, she realized her flux was late. A whole eight months after that single night of sharing Claude's bed, little Henry Walter de Bourbon was brought into this world. Henry is named after Claude's grandfather, Henri de Borubon, and Kay's late grandfather, Walter. Kay couldn't be happier with the birth, though it was extremely tiring. Claude seems amazed, and perplexed, that petite Kay was actually about to carry a child near to full term, but is very happy to have a son.
