boring
And I don't care who thinks that sounds snobby. NOT SAYING THEY AREN"T NICE, but dang they are so boring. I would love an opportunity like this, and would choose names that are fantastic and breathtaking. Not so run of the mill, they might as well be named "girl".
If I named my trip girls following the same letter pattern I'd choose:
Alice Elanor
Cordelia Elspeth
Emmeline Annora

Well, I'd choose Avery (I prefer it as a middle name; Clare Winter Avery, but one of my friends likes Avery Stella, which I think is lovely). I wouldn't say no to Avery Elizabeth, either. Emily I'd consider for a middle name after Emily Bronte. Chloe, Ellen & Ann are really sweet, too. Then again, I adore many names that aren't 'name nerdy', I guess.
Oh Chloe Ellen is sweet!
I love seeing sort of plain, unassuming names in the middle, it somehow makes a combo so appealing and kind.

I know what you mean, my cousin was born and for 3 weeks she wasn't names, and her parent's could come up with was Hannah. So boring
I went a couple of weeks without a name, until my parents started calling me Rachael. Similar story.
Hey... at least all three of your nieces have girls' names.
I don't think that Avery for a girl really fits with the sisters' names. It kind of works if you go just based on the sound, but Avery for a boy would work better with Chloe and Emily. Chloe and Emily are strictly girls' names, so I think another strictly feminine name, such as Natalie, would fit in better.
Ellen is lovely. I'm so glad to see it used for a little girl even if it is just the middle name.
Elizabeth is pretty, but too popular. Ann is very plain especially as a middle name.
Despite its massive popularity, I like Emily. I wouldn't use it myself though.

Avery is one I like despite many that many people say it's a boy's name and very common. I've actually only met one Avery, despite subbing in dozens of schools. And Avery Elizabeth sounds pretty good to me, even if Elizabeth is a little boring.
I don't like Chloe and find Emily boring.

They're not tremendously exciting, but they are all classic names and I prefer them to trendy names such as Navaya.

JEEZ LOUISE!
I actually agree with most of you. I wasn't trying to say that this a terrible set. I said they weren't bad and maybe I should have went as far as to say that they are nice in the OP.
I do not feel that they did a *bad* job, I'm just a bit jealous at the opportunity to name 3 kids at once and feel that it's such a waste of a naming opportunity to have named them so "regularly" (for a lack of better description). I am absolutely and completely sure that the whole world like's thier names better than mine or even most of the names here. I just think of this board as my little fantasy place where names are loved for more than just thier familiarity. I am sorry if I came off as a name elitist who dislikes people who name with the trends or who turns her nose up to names randomly because they are "too common".
I just thought it would be fun to hear what variations of opinions and renaming we here would have come up with. That's all. Next time, I will be sure to post very much more clearly my intentions and thoughts!
:-)
p.s. it did turn out to be an interesteing post despite the direction though, didn't it?? :-)

Don't worry, it's nothing you said. Nobody's viewing you as evil. It's just a general vibe that these boards give off that some people are starting to get sick of, and it happened to be your post that turned into a discussion about it. I hope you don't take it too harshly!
Thanks I was starting to be a little hurt because I post alot and I didn't think that I was the snobby type. Granted, I prefer the more exotic and unusual names, but I can appreciate just about anything... I wasn't dissing the parents, just saying I'd dye for an opportunity like that and it's almost painful (for me) to see such a chance go to conventional names....
I like the sibset. Avery is more of a boys' name to me, but I think they're lovely.
:)
Can't go too wrong with most of these names.
I know a boy Avery, but I do think it's pretty for a girl, not sure why.

Okay, wow...
Are we a little too much on this site? I'm just thinking in general. There is nothing wrong with these names. Maybe we would do "better" at naming them, at least in our own point of view, but they probably wouldn't like the names most of the people on the board would choose, and would feel they did better. Regular people don't obsess with names for years like most of us. Like someone here mentioned a while ago, it's like art. There is no perfect piece.
I read somewhere about a woman who, before she got married, her husband told her he had to name his daughter Clotilde after his great grandmother, or someone. When she found out she was expecting a girl, she bawled her eyes out. She only called her Cloe for her own sanity.
They are pretty solid names.
I think they did alright.
Don't shoot me, k?

I'm going to rather disagree with you here. In a way.
First: Nobody would say that the parents don't have a right to name their children what they want. Pretty obviously, they named them what they wanted to and what they thought best, and everyone knows that very likely they would still prefer these names to whatever we choose. But everyone here has a right to an opinion on the names, and that's all anyone would be doing--stating an opinion. It's very common for people here to make a post about a name given to a real-life baby and ask for opinions. I've done it myself. Isn't that the point of a name opinions board? What's wrong with giving an opinion where the parents are very unlikely to see it anyway?
Also...I think these names are very boring--nothing *inherently* wrong with them, but overuse and popularity makes them boring. I always feel impatient by people who use overly popular names, because *in my opinion* it's a bad idea to use a name that does nothing to distinguish a child and will some day date him or her. I think that's all the OP meant to say, and that's her opinion and mine and we have a right to it, and if we can't state it here on a names opinion board, where can we state it?
Let's celebrate the fact that we are namenerds and we have ideas and sensibilities that the general public doesn't have, instead of decrying it.

I think the problem is in the OP's statement:
If I had the opportunity and 9 months to think of names for triplets, I would do waayyy better than this I think.
It basically implies that the parents of these children didn't think their names out at all and did a half-assed job of naming, which is ridiculous to say just because you don't like their choices.

I know it's probably an exaggeration of what the OP was thinking, but it sounded petty and nitpick-y to me.

But I'm not saying that... :-(

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I interpreted your words to mean, "I would avoid such popular names and would want to find something more offbeat and unusual" and I feel the same way. But the way it was worded, it could be construed the way Akua Topaz construed it, and so a misunderstanding resulted. Also, maybe some people feel that such an attitude is snobbish, and if they do, oh well, then I'm a snob when it comes to names, just as I am when it comes to Chef Boyardee, Bud Light beer, and reality TV. :-D
LOL, I see what you mean. I guess I forget that everyone here doesn't know me personally and that they can easily misinterpret what I'm saying if I'm not super clear. That was my mistake, I guess!
*edit*
I guess my statement was meant to say that they had a long time and could have done something spectacular, but they chose the beaten path.
Which I am not mad at them for, I was just saying that any of us here may have done something different...

No kidding. I love on here when people put in brackets what they'd prefer the parents did, as if the parents would care at all what some bored over-judgmental kid on the internet would think, as if parents who would name their kid Chloe might as well just have gone for Clotilde like it's even comparable. It's such a fantasy. These names are totally normal and fine.
For some reason I want to chime in here. Humor me if I repeat myself. It's late and I'm on asprin.
I understand where you're coming from. Constant bashing of names and snobbery is annoying. But when it comes right down to it, I don't come on this site to talk about how parents have the right to choose any normal name they want. Obviously they do. When I come on this site, which is a name opinions site, I want to express my opinion. Sometimes that means saying that I think certain parents sucked at naming their children and stating what I would prefer. Not for a second do I assume the parents who named would care what I think. Good thing that I'm talking to a board of namenerds, most of whom have off the wall taste, and not the parents. In my mind, that's what this board is here for. That's what it does for me. It gives me a chance to live in a world where names like Agatha and Alfred and other generally hated names become beautiful. If I had to bow down to popularity and boredom why would I come here?
I think that it helps to look at it from the eyes of an average namer. If any average person heard me say that I wanted to name my son Alfred, they would think I was insane and that their naming taste was far superior to mine. If the average American saw my Alfred in a birth announcement, they'd probably say something rude about how I'm setting him up to be a joke. It's not just us. We have just as much right to express our minority opinion as they do to express their majority one.
I guess I just wanted to say that I think the people (and I'm including myself on this one) who tear BAs and sibsets apart and replace them with what they'd prefer have every right to do so, simply because this is a name opinions site. We're not talking to the parents and we're not interested in their opinions, just in the opinions of other namenerds, and I think very few of us carry the delusion that the names we like would go over well in real life. Taking away the chance to change things to what we'd prefer makes this site less fun. Being namenerds it makes it less ours if we can't go crazy just so we don't seem like we're snobs for going against the common. Well, that's how I feel.

I couldn't (and didn't) reply as well. Thank you. This reply made my day and expresses EXACTLY why I practically live on ths site!
Agree
I wanted to say all this, but you put it so eloquently I'll just ditto your post:-)

Yep.
It's my fantasy that people would rather go to the theater to see "Carmen" than watch "The Jerry Springer Show" on TV, and it's my fantasy that they'd rather read "Anna Karenina" than People magazine, and it's my fantasy that they'd rather go to the trouble to make penne ala vodka than open up a can of Chef Boyardee. Does that mean that I don't have a right to say so, or that my taste is "wrong" somehow?
lol
I needed that, thanks. :)

I see nothing wrong with these names, either. They may be plain to namenerds, but what is wrong with them? Personally, I'd rather be Chloe Ellen than, say, Minerva Elisabetta Liliana. JMO, so nobody shoot me, either.

Well said, and ditto.
Though I'm not fond of those three names [mainly due to personal experiences, and the fact that I prefer Avery on a boy], there's nothing desperately wrong with them. It's all down to personal taste, isn't it?

Yay Ellen ♥! Otherwise I agree that the names are very plain and I don't like Avery at all in this sibset (don't really like it in general and prefer it for a boy). At least it isn't a theme-y set.
Ok names, but all so common and popular.
Agreed. I don't like Avery as a first name on a girl, but it's okay as a middle name. This would be a better set if they just switched some of the names around...
Elizabeth Avery (for the most dignified)
Ellen Chloe
Emily Ann - the one that I might actually keep
I also might like Ann Avery or Emily Elizabeth. I just don't like the current sibset as it stands.
