It makes me think of the "Sound of Music" movie. That's what is attractive about it to me.

It's my username :) but I like it spelled Liesl.

I strongly dislike Liesel because it's too nicknamey and tacky. There are so many great diminutives of Elisabeth that I don't see why anyone would use Liesel.

I like Liesel (and Liesl) well enough, but be aware that it rhymes with weasel. How do I know this, you ask? My sister, Lisa, was nn'd Liesl which turned into weasel. It could happen ... ;-)

Liesel? That rhymes with weasel... and I don't think you want her to be known as a weasel in class. :/ It's a better middle name IMO, but it's still nice.

I might be a little biased because it's my nickname, but I love it! :D
I don't know if I love it as much as a full name though.

I love Liesl, but only this spelling. I take advantage when I can put two letters "legitimately" together that normally don't get to. Plus, Liesel reminds me of diesel fuel.
