I'd think about it as a nn (for Alessandra, but it would work for Alexandra too, imo. I know a guy named Alexander nn Sandy, so why not?).
I don't really like it, though. I had a roommate last year named Sandra and she was extremely unpleasant!
I do find it pretty dated, and I'd let it sit for a few more years. This is still in the "Wait, what?" stage with names like Linda and Nancy.
My friend's roommate last year was named Andra (she was German so it may have been Andre? It was pronounced "AHN-druh). Ooh, I'd totally go for Alessandra nn Andra, but Sandra nn Andra could work as well.
