[Opinions] Rory
Replies
I don't see any boys name ending with a "y" or "ie" being masculine at all. Since Rory's not a very common name in the US, so I'd think most people would assume Rory was a girls' name to being with, especially with the Gilmore Girls character being Rory.
I like Rory for girls as a nn for Aurora but not on it's own, it's too simular to names like Lori, Cory, Tori, etc which seem very dated to me.

Very masculine, I love it for a boy and don't like it AT ALL on a girl. I can tolerate it as a nn for Aurora but I prefer Rora.

I love it for a boy but I know it's gaining some popularity for girls in recent years (though not by a huge landslide imo). I blame the "Gilmore Girls". :(

It's masculine - very.
It sounds to me like a man - a big, man's man type, totally butch. Not sure why, but the nn Rory on a girl can't work for me at all. Besides, it sounds a little trendy to me on a girl, even as a nick for Aurora or whatever -- because of the trend of male names on girls. It strikes me as vaguely tacky. No guarantee that my mind wouldn't change if I met a female Rory, but I know I'd still think it sounded good on a guy.

I think Rory is an exclusive boy's name. The name and it's meaning ("red king") just shouts "Male!" to me.

Full name = 100% male; nn = could be girl
Rory's a good nn for a tomboyish Aurora or Lorelei (just please, for the love of [higher being/force], don't spell Lorelei Lorelai) imo.
But as a full name, Rory's 100% male to me. What clinches Rory's masculinity to me is that it means "red king", not "red queen".
EDIT: I erased evidence of a stupid brain fart... ;-)

Question...
Do you like the spelling Lorelai? Or was that a typo?

Er... no
I said, "Please don't spell Lorelei Lorelai." In other words, "Please don't misspell Lorelei as Lorelai (because that's just incorrect and too Gilmore Girls-ish, mkay?)."
I may have worded it a bit confusingly. :-)

I guess it was a typo, because...
This is what your post says:
>(just please, for the love of [higher being/force], spell Lorelei Lorelai)
So I'm assuming that it was a typo.

OMG, you're right! *Smacks forehead*
Jeez, how'd I miss that? Lol!

You're welcome...it happens to the best of us! :)
Boy's name! I don't like it much at all. It could be a cute nickname, I repeat, nickname for a girl named Aurora, though.
I hate it. Either way it sucks but I can't see why girls are called it! It's stupid for a girls name IMO. Definately more masculine though.
