It's not as popular here, whereas Sophie is in the top 10.
I do prefer Sophie, but I have Sophia on my list as Sophia Luna. I think there's a reason it's so popular: it's gorgeous!
Don't be afraid to use it. Just pair a more unusual middle with it so Sophia can choose to be called that if the popularity annoys her.

Sophia Johanna
Sophia Ginevra
Sophia Greta
Sophia Minerva
Sophia Lilja
