[Facts] Is this an actual Danish first name?
One of my friend's Facebook friends is Danish and has Asbøg in the middle of his full name; you'd think it was a middle name, but it looks more like it's part of a hyphenated surname of sorts. A search on Google seems to confirm this, as it mostly seems to be a surname in Denmark.
However, I could easily see this being a first name, composed of Old Norse áss "God" and Old Norse bogi "bow". Has such a first name ever existed? Could it be that this was once a name for men/women, but that it has since gone out of use and is nowadays mostly seen as a (patronymic/matronymic) surname?
I was just wondering about this, because I like the look and feel of Asbøg and wanted to know more about it. :)
Thank you for any input you can provide! :D

Asbøg was not on the official list of Danish names put out by their church ministry in 1990. The closest names on those lists are the male name Asbjørn and the female name Asløg.
