[Opinions] Edison
Wdyt of Edison? I like it for a boy but am scared people will think it is feminine with the recent trend of Addison being a girls name (which in my view is just wrong). So Edison (possibly nn Eddie)masculine enough?

I'd prefer Tesla or Nikolabut Edison is perfectly fine. :-D

Edison is completely masculine to me and I'd be very surprised if people thought it was feminine. I think of Thomas Edison, of course, which isn't a negative association for me.On the subject of "just wrong", I feel the same way about Addison and now it seems I may have to add my dear Elliott to the list. Sigh...

I don't mind it at all. I don't associate it with the Addison-trend so much as the last-name-turn-first-name trend. Which is a trend I really like...
Emerson, for example.
Makai (from McKay).
Sullivan.
Camden.
etc.

Edison is definitely masculine enough and I don't feel its anywhere near Addison. The only thing is the association with Thomas Edison which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I also like this as an honoring name for an other Ed-like name. He could also go by Sonny ;)

Works as a surname, but don't like it as a fn. First thing that pops in my mind is "The Edison Twins"... Blast from the past 80s (maybe even 70s) tv.

I find it masculine enough, but don't care for it at all (makes me think of light bulbs).

How could people think Edison was feminine? I was surprised to read you "say" that! I don't think you'd have to worry at all.I actually kind of like Edison. I don't usually go for random surnames as first names unless there's a connection (family surname, etc.), but I think Edison has a nice sound to it.
