[Opinions] Re: Sasha for a boy?
in reply to a message by Evie.
I don't mind it on a boy, but much prefer it on a girl. It has been quite common here for boys in the 80s, usually spelled Sascha (I live in Germany) and I find it a bit dated on a boy while I think it's fresh and really lovely on a girl.I would use it on its own, not as a nickname for Alexander. Alexander "Sasha" might make sense in Russia but it doesn't in most other countries and I dislike it when there doesn't seem to be a logical connection between the nickname and the full name. So it does work in Russia but not here. Same with Natalia "Natasha" or Tatyana "Tanya", they work better as independent names outside of Russia.
