From the most noble house of Tayel,
In the mighty kingdom of Kriana.
Mirabelle and Remus didn't wait to get married, and they didn't wait to have children either. Unlike her mother, Mirabelle suffered no miscarriages and within three months after her marriage announced happily that she was pregnant. The entire royal family was happy, even down to little Elisabetta, and Mirabelle and Remus were thrilled. They didn't know about the rumors that began circulating among the court until Mirabelle was nearly five months pregnant. There were apparently some nobles--whether out of malice or amusement or just plain love of gossip--who were whispering that Crown Princess Mirabelle and newly-crowned Prince Remus had perhaps "sampled the wares" before marrying, and that this child was the reason the wedding had followed right on the heels of the enagagement announcement. This was proven false when Mirabelle was still pregnant more than ten months after the wedding itself. Since this rumor got no further than palace gossip, Mirabelle's reputation remains untarnished and the people at large still see her as the bright, beautiful, virtuous girl they always have. But just a few weeks before Mirabelle was due to deliver, another rumor reached the ears of the royal family. Mirabelle was walking down to the physicians' chambers one afternoon for the weekly visit they insisted upon when she heard two of Queen Kat's ladies-in-waiting talking in a chamber. She heard Remus's name, so she without realizing it was rude stopped to listen. They were relating a bit of gossip they had heard, that Remus had fathered a child with a maid in Gwynndale before he had become engaged to the princess. Mirabelle was furious, but she did not rush in as she wanted to. Instead she talked to Remus and her parents privately. Remus denied the charge, and Kat, Arthur, and Mirabelle all believed him. The rumor was easily proven to be false; it was based on the fact that a maid he was known to flirt with had been turned out of his father's service very suddenly, and it was rumored it was because she was pregnant by Rumus. It was actually because she had been caught stealing some valuable silks belonging to Remus's mother, and this was easily disproven when the maid was found to never have born a child. The maid, Judith by name, was questioned discreetly by royal officials, and she was so incensed by this smirch on her honor that she began yelling at the officials before she realized what she was doing. "I may have been a thief," she yelled, "but I'm no whore!" Thankfully this gossip never got past the nobles either, or it could have caused problems for the royal family, especially Kat. Haarlsgard had been looking for an excuse for war, and a royal family weakened by scandal would have been the perfect opening for them. Thankfully they never heard of it, so the tentative peace continues.
Kat was able to forget her worries, however, with the birth of her first grandchild. Mirabelle bore a daughter eleven months to the day after hers and Remus's wedding. She and Remus had both been certain it would be a girl, and had already planned her name. Rosabella, a name they loved, for her first name, Katarina and Danielle for her first two middle names for her maternal grandparents (Arthur's fourth and favorite MN was used), and Lile and Gwen are both names popular in Gwynndale, where Remus is from. She looks a great deal like Remus right now, but she has inherited her mother's blue eyes. The young parents are entirely devoted to their little daughter and everyone--even the gossip-mongers--are touched with how much they love her.
