Year 1: Pet
Mikael and Anushka have been married for a little under a year. Mikael is Danish-American and Anushka's parents were from Russia, but she grew up in England. Mikael is a working as a librarian and Anushka is an elementary school teacher. They live in New Orleans and love it! Recently Anushka has been wanting a pet because she grew up with lots of animals and hasn't has a pet in a long time. So one day Mikael decided to surprise her! An older woman he works with at the library had a pet bird named Hugo and since she is moving to Florida to retire she gave him to Mikael. Anushka was so excited when he brought it home and she fixed up a nice home for him (although he spends most of the time on her shoulder and not in his cage!).
Year 2: Birth
Life has been going really well for Mikael and Anushka this past year! It all started last year when Anushka surprised Mikael with a candlelit dinner when he came home from work. He figured she was just being nice, but was shocked when she couldn't hold her excitement any longer and announced that she was pregnant! Although he was surprised, Mikael was very happy! He and Anushka always knew they wanted a family and couldn't wait to be parents! The two of them went to work almost right away preparing for their new baby. Mikael was very protective of his pregnant wife, but he shouldn't have worried so much because her pregnancy went great and on a cold but very happy New Years Day their little baby girl was born! She has curly brown hair and green eyes like her mama and they named her Ayla Ruth Henriksen.

Year 3: Random - Natural Disaster
It has been a year since little Ayla was born. She is such a happy little girl and Mikael and Anushka love her so much! Life was going really well until a horrible ocean storm hit New Orleans. Their home was located near the beach and they used to walk there every weekend with Ayla, but they were forced to leave their house and take their daughter (and pet bird) to a safer place. The storm wasn't the worst ever seen, but all of the homes near the coast were completely destroyed, including Mikael and Anushka's. They were devastated, but were thankful to be able to stay with Mikael's parents in Tennessee.
Year 4: Travel
It has been a year since they moved to Tennessee to live with Mikael's parents and 2 years sine Ayla was born. Anushka has really wanting to take a trip to Russia to visit all of her family and for them to finally meet little Ayla. They were able to save up some money and took a wonderful two week trip to Russia! Anushka loved seeing everyone again and Ayla was spoiled by all!
Year 5: Pet
Ayla is now 3 years old and such a sweet little girl! She loves to play outside with her daddy and she loves animals. So for her 3rd birthday Mikael and Anushka decided to get her a pet of her own. Ayla was so excited when they brought home a baby bunny for her to take care of! She even chose his name herself, Silverkiss!
Year 6: Family Affair - Find Stray
Ayla is now 4 years old! Anushka spends a lot of time getting her out of trees and tracking her down in the woods behind their house, but loves that her daughter is so curious about life. One day while Anushka was cooking dinner in the kitchen Ayla ran inside holding a wet and very scared gray and white cat. Apparently he had been wandering around in the woods when she found him. The cat looked very skinny and hungry, so Anushka was pretty sure he was just a stray and not someone's pet, so when Ayla begged her mother to adopt him she couldn't say no. Six months later Snowdance (Ayla picked his name herself too) is a very fat and happy cat and he and Ayla are inseparable!

Year 7: Adoption
Ayla is now 5 years old and Anushka has been feeling a little sad about not having another child. She and Mikael talked about it for a long time and discussed it with Ayla as well and they all felt it would be right for their family to adopt a child. They met with an adoption agency right away and were quickly placed with a newborn baby boy from Haiti! The adoption process took about 8 months and Anushka and Mikael were so happy when they finally got to bring home their new son, Josue Pierre Henriksen! Anushka is so happy to be a mother to their new child and Ayla loves having a baby brother! Right away Josue bonded with and fit into their family perfectly! He is such a sweet happy little baby and brings happiness to the whole house!

Year 8: Pet
It has been a year since Josue joined the family. He is now almost 2 years old and Ayla is 6! Anushka loves being a mother and taking care of her son and daughter! She and Mikael have their hands full, but love every second of it! Josue is such a fun and sweet little boy who runs all over the house and loves to play with his big sister. Ayla is as adventurous as ever and still loves animals more than anything! Recently she went to a fair at her school and excitedly brought home a pet goldfish that she had won in one of the games! He now sits in a bowl in the kitchen where she and Josue love to sit and watch him. She named him Jellyrain and takes very good care of him!

Year 9: Family Vacation
Ayla is now 7 years old and Josue is almost 3! The last year has been really good for Mikael and Anushka and since the kids are now old enough to enjoy it they decided to take them to Disney World! Ayla was super excited when they told her and when she explained it to Josue he was excited too! They had a great time on their trip! Ayla loved the rides and she and Anushka got to have a tea party with the Disney princesses! Josue loved meeting Mickey Mouse and had fun on all of the rides for little kids!

Year 10: Birth
Ayla is 8 now and Josue is almost 4 years old! Shortly after they got back from Disney World, Anushka found out she was pregnant! She and Mikael were so excited, but did not expect it when their doctor told them they were having twins! Anushka's pregnancy was fairly uneventful, although her stomach grew so big that she was beginning to think she might pop! Thankfully their little boys were born right on time and very healthy! They both have straight brown hair and brown eyes and their names are Haydn Boris Henriksen and Bear Albert Henriksen!

Year 11: Travel
It has been a year since Haydn and Bear were born and Mikael and Anushka decided it would be a good time to take a trip back to Russia to visit Anushka's family! They stayed for three weeks and even got to travel around Russia a bit. Ayla and Josue (who are now 9 and 5) had a lot of fun and since Anushka speaks in Russian to them often at home they were able to talk easily with their cousins and grandparents (they also know Danish from Mikael)!
Year 12: Adoption
It has been a year since their trip and Mikael and Anushka are doing wonderfully! They started talking a few months before their trip about possibly adopting another child, but kept it quiet until everything was final. They met with their adoption agency and after a little while were placed with an adorable little girl from Namibia. She is now 4 years old and her name is Afia Tatenda Henriksen. Ayla (who is now 10) was very excited when they told her she would have a little sister! Anushka flew to Africa by herself to get Afia because Mikael had to work and needed to stay with the children. But when the plane arrived in Tennessee he and the four kids met them at the airport! Afia bonded very quickly with her new parents and siblings and is a very happy little girl! Josue (who is 6) is closer in age to her so they play together often, but she loves to play with her big sister Ayla and the twins (who are now 2) as well!

Year 13: Family Affair
It has been a hectic year for Mikael and Anushka. Along with keeping us with an 11 year old, 7 year old, 5 year old, and two 3 year old, Mikael was recently in a bad car accident and broke both of his legs! He can't work, so Anushka has had to work whatever hours she can to help pay the bills. She and Mikael are both just happy that he was not more seriously hurt or killed, but the doctor says it could be over a year before he will be able to walk again without the use of crutches and that will be after lots of physical therapy!
Year 14: Pet
It has been a year since Mikael's accident and he is doing much better! He surprised all of his doctors and therapists by recovering very fast and he can now walk with just the use of a cane! He is now back at work and Anushka is home again taking care of the kids (who are now 12, 8, 6, 4, and 4). The four oldest children go to school all day and Haydn and Bear recently started going to preschool in the mornings. Their teacher was a little surprised though because Anushka has been teaching them since they were babies and they already know how to read and write some words. All five of the children are also bilingual and know English, Russian, Danish, and some French. Anushka is so proud that she and Mikael can pass on their love of learning to their children and she is also happy that she has been able to pass on a love of animals as well! For quite a while now the kids have been begging their parents to get them a dog, so they found a golden retriever breeder near by and took the kids to pick out their new puppy! They all decided on an adorable female who they named Sunflower! The kids love their new puppy and love cuddle with her!

Year 15: Birth
Mikael, Anushka and the kids (who are now 13, 9, 7, 5, and 5) are doing really well. Sunflower the puppy is now a year old and has a lot of fun running around outside with the kids! Mikael recently took over his old boss's job and is now running the library. Anushka has been doing well too. She stays really busy taking care of their children and the house and she has also been working as a substitute teacher occasionally which gives her something she enjoys when the kids are at school. For the last several months she has been feeling very tired and sick though and decided to stop teaching because she was afraid she was overworking herself. She continued keeping busy and tried to take it easy, but after another month she decided she should go to the doctor. Her doctor did a blood test and an exam and called her later in the week to tell her what was wrong...she was pregnant! She was shocked, but also relieved that nothing bad was wrong with her. However when she went into the doctor for an appointment they did a sonogram and realized that she was actually 6 1/2 months along! She and the doctor were both stunned. Other than feeling sick and tired Anushka never had any other symptoms and had never missed any of her periods or gained much weight! The doctor put her on prenatal vitamins right away and she and Mikael began preparing for their surprise baby! Thankfully 2 1/2 months later their new little daughter was born perfectly healthy! She has brown hair and brown eyes and they named her Athena Olya Henriksen! Now Anushka and little Athena are back home and doing great! Ayla and Afia love having a new little sister and Josue, Haydn, and Bear love having a sweet little baby in the house too! She was a big surprise, but Mikael and Anushka wouldn't trade their little Athena for anything!
