Felix & Carmen
Joss, Alda, Kewpie, Sunny, Casia, Peek
Felix is the mayor of Lebanon, Kansas, a farm town of 303. He has sandy blond hair and brown eyes, which he’s always squinting. I have long wavy brown hair and hazel eyes, and keep our home, a log cabin that smacks of Rustic Luxury. We each drive a Ford F-150, and were married November 4, 2010.
In 2011, we drove to the Grand Canyon; Felix likes birds, I learned to like birds.
In 2012, we adopted Joselyn Samantha Wiebe, a tiny little 3-year-old girl from US Foster care with big black eyes, pretty long black hair, and reddish-olive skin.
In 2013, the whole family went along with Felix to the Midwestern Mayors’ Convention in Tulsa. Joselyn and I had a blast tearing up the hotel.
In 2014, Felix and I finally saw the publication of our book about the birds of North-Central Kansas and South-Central Nebraska.
In 2015, we drove Felix’s parents’ RV all the way to Yosemite, where 6-year-old Joselyn impressed us by climbing Vernal Falls.
In 2016, I gave birth to a brown-eyed girl, Alda Noemi Wiebe, who has straight black hair like Joselyn’s, oddly enough.
In 2017, we visited the Mayan ruins in Guatemala.
In 2018, we had a “business trip” to Fort Collins, Colorado to meet several other homeschooling families we know through the Internet.
In 2019, I gave birth to Quentin Compson “Kewpie” Wiebe, a blue-eyed boy with straight brown hair.
In 2020, I published my first children’s book, also about birds.
In 2021, we adopted a kitten named Louie Louie, but we just call him Louie for short.
In 2022, I gave birth to Nicasia Ruth “Casia” Wiebe, a girl with curly red hair (still wondering how this wandered into our gene pool) and hazel eyes (like mine, reassuringly).
In 2023, we adopted Sunder Rakesh Wiebe, a 4-year-old boy from India. He has huge black eyes and black hair that is growing out after it was cut very short. We call him Sunny (pronounced more like Soony) sometimes.
In 2024, our log cabin was hit by a tornado and demolished. We decided against rebuilding and moved into a stately old blue house near the town square, which is convenient to the mayor’s office.
In 2025, I gave birth to Pekoe Lindsay Wiebe, aa boy with blue eyes and wavy red hair.
