[Opinions] Pixie
I read an article on a singer named Pixie Lott on a blog that I follow. (Check her out, she's awesome.) Since then I have been warming up to the name Pixie, and am now obsessed with it.
Thoughts?

As a nickname, as it is in Pixie Lott's case (her real name is Victoria, she was nicknamed Pixie as she was so tiny when she was born), it's fine. As a given name, it isn't.

I think it's great for a pet or as a nickname, but not as a full name.

I think it's cute but it would be best on a cetain kind of person. A plump sugary blonde named Pixie is barf-worthy; a dark-haired super-sharp intellectual bohemian named Pixie = awesome. I like linking it to the pixie cut hairsyle - a really hip, spare, mod image rather than the woodland sprite.

The plump blonde named Pixie might be amusing in a pantomime.

It's not her real name but anyway, I think it's cute as a nickname, or for a pet but as a real name, unless she became famous, it would be hard for her to be taken seriously in life

GP... That's the only list it belongs on.. It's like naming your kid Fairy or Gnome... Not appealing... maybe as a nn at home, but not something to lump a kid w/ on her birth certificate and all other forms of legal identification.

I know a Nicole, now aged about 20, who was known as Nix; sometimes this would morph into Pixie, but it never really caught on.It's always sounded both down-market and frivolous to me, rather like Dixie. Best kept for a cat; or hamster.

I'd love it on a cat. On a human, it seems like more of a nickname or a stage name.

I think it's pretty cute, but for practical purposes, and who likes thinking practically, I know, I really would like to have a full name. But wow so many options!
Penelope nn Pixie WOW cute!
Persephone
Poppea
Proserpina
OK that's all.

My only concern is what if Pixie grows up to be a 6-foot tall rugby player? It sounds cute on a little girl, but I can't picture it on a grown-up, or even a teenager!

Pixie would be an adorable nn. As a full name, it'd really suck to be called Pixie.I know how you feel. I'm obsessed with Disney. Just love it, and I think it'd be adorable on a little girl. But I'd hate it to be an adult called Disney and have to introduce myself as it. So it's firmly on the Pet Name Only list. After all, you are an adult for most of your life.

As a nn? Silly, but nns can be silly if they want to. As a formal name / birth certificate name: No way.

I concur. Pixie is a gp of mine, but I would never use it on a human being. Instead, I named one of my cats Pixie and it suits her perfectly.
