[Facts] Adalie??
I'm really interested in the name Adalie as a German girls name. I saw it listed on a really rubbish baby names site with next to no information under German names, and its on several sites like that, but it isn't on here (apart from as a user submitted name which lists it as Hebrew). I would be so grateful if anyone in the know could tell me if this is a name used in Germany and any information about it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi there, I live in Germany. My personal impression of Adalie: It might be used in Germany occasionally and I think it would be accepted (though considered unusual) but I have never heard of an Adalie myself.
I think many Germans would put it either in the Amalie category (pronouncing it ah-DAH-lee-ə) or in the Amelie & Annelie category (pronouncing it AH-dah-lee). Or they would just ask how Adalie wants her name pronounced ;)
German wiki does not list Adalie.
My German namebook does not list it either.
From my experience as a name nerd (lol) I'd say it is related to Adelheid and its diminutives?
Hope I could help.

Well yes, as both Adelaide and Adelheid are derived from Adelheidis, Adalie would also be related to Adelaide but Adelaide is not used in Germany. So if Adalie really is a German name, it would have to be derived from Adelheid. If you like you can check out the family tree of Adelaide here: http://www.behindthename.com/php/tree.php?name=adelaide
Again IF Adalie is German, I doubt it to be derived from either a place name or a genus of ladybugs because this is not a tradition in Germany and is against current naming laws.
