According to the Oxford Dictionary of Surnames Brahm could be a place-name. Unfortunately the dictionary has variant spellings like Braham, Brahame, Brame, Bramham and Bramman, but not Brahm. Still: the Oxford Dictionary of Place-names explains Bramham as follows: "homestead or enclosure where broom grows".
The German DUDEN, Familiennamen gives two possible derivations of Brahm (od of Brahms the famous composer): 1. as shown above, 2. short form of Abraham.
