Year 1
Fred and Kat, after dating for five years, get married in a beautiful ceremony in Tuscany. It was a stroke of luck that they got the beautiful villa as their venue: Fred was taping a Travel Channel special on European food, and was scheduled to film his Tuscany episode at the historic villa. When the trust that owned the building found out that he was engaged, they invited him and Kat to be married there in order to gain publicity. A great time was had by all, and Fred and Kat spent a month traveling around Italy for their honeymoon.
Year 2
Fred's Tuscany episode is a huge success, and the Travel Channel wants to give him his own show! This would mean more hours working, but also a very significant pay raise. Fred accepts, and is excited for the new opportunity and his life with his new wife.
Year 3
Kat, after the huge success of her first album, is apprehensive to release her second, fearing the dreaded "sophomore slump." However, her second album recieves rave reviews and does even better than the first, bringing in huge amounts of revenue.
Year 4
In order to promote her new album, Kat goes on a huge world tour that lasts the entire year. Fred plans the episodes of his new show around the cities that Kat is performing in, so the couple gets to still spend quality time together.
Year 5
Not quite ready for children yet, Fred and Kat decide they want a pet. However, due to their busy lifestyle, they don't think that they would give a dog or a cat the kind of life they deserve, so Fred surprises Kat on her 30th birthday with an ornate tank of fancy tropical fish. They are truly beautiful to look at, and Fred and Kat name them after their favorite historical figures: Napoleon Bonaparte, Otto von Bismarck, Marie Antoinette, Boudicca, and Cleopatra.
Year 6
A year later, just as Kat's world tour ended and Fred took a hiatus from his show, Kat finds a stray mutt rooting around in their garbage one day. She manages to get the dog into the car and take him to a vet, who tells them that he is a boy, about two years old, and in reasonably good shape for a boy. Kat falls in love with the dog, whom she names Max. Fred soon warms up to Max, and he becomes a part of the family.
Year 7
While filming a segment on China for his show, Fred visits an orphanage, and instantly feels connected with the plight of the mostly female orphans. Since he and Kat always wanted to be parents, they decide to give a child in need a home and adopt. Due mostly to their celebrity status, they are able to finalize the adoption of identical three year old girls only six months later, as they couldn't bear to seperate the sisters, whose names are Ling Nuan and Hui Ning. Fred and Kat decide to keep their legal names, but give the girls English "nicknames"--Lily and Hannah, respectively. The girls don't seem to mind and, as they begin to learn English and thrive, respond to both.
Year 8
Soon after coming to the US, Lily and Hannah beg for a cat, like the one they had at the orphanage. Fred and Kat go to a shelter with the girls and pick out a sweet tabby that the girls name Bao Bei, a term of endearment that the orphanage workers used to use. Max and Bao Bei are at odds with each other at first, but as the months go by, learn to get along famously.
Year 9
As Fred's show is renewed for its sixth season, Fred recieves a significant pay raise. He is grateful for this: with the twins starting kindergarten at an elite private school, he and Kat need all the extra money they can get.
Year 10
For their tenth anniversary, Fred surprises Kat by buying her an even larger house that she had admired when she saw it up for sale in their neighborhood. Kat is overjoyed--she gets to live in the house of her dreams without having to uproot the girls, who are very much enjoying their new school.
Year 11
Fred gets invited to compete in Iron Chef in Japan! Since it happened to be filmed during the summer, Fred and Kat make a trip of it with the twins--they do the whole tourist thing in Japan while Fred is competing, and they also make a stop over to China to visit the twins' old orphanage--they are happy to see Lily and Hannah thriving, and the twins are equally as happy to see some familiar faces. Though Fred doesn't win, a great time is had by all.
Year 12
Katrin releases her third album, which does extremely well. Her advance is significantly higher than for her first or second albums.
Year 13
Katrin does another tour for her third album. This time she brings the twins along--Fred and Kat hire private tutors for them, and they see all of the major cities in Europe and Asia.
Year 14
At the end of Kat's tour, she and Fred recieve a horrifying phone call. Kat's younger sister Johanna, a single mother, had suffered a sudden brain aneurysm and died. She had named Fred and Kat legal guardians to her seven-year-old son, Christian, in case anything happened to her, since Christian's father was completely out of the picture. Kat is devastated by the loss of her sister, and vows to give her nephew as much love and care as she does her own daughters.
Year 15
The last year has been rocky, but Christian is getting accustomed to living with his aunt and uncle. Fred and Kat put him in therapy, and he is slowly beginning to do better in school and is doted upon by his two cousins. To take all of their minds off of the tragedy of Johanna's passing and to celebrate their new family, Fred and Kat take the entire family to Disneyworld. Everyone, adult and child alike, has a wonderful time.
