In the mighty kingdom of Ontolakis.
Prompt: When the mighty king Evangelos died he left only one son (Lavrentios). Too bad Lavrentios was only three years old at the time.. Evangelos brother, Emmanouil, took over both as ruler of Ontolakis and father to young Lav. When Lav turned eighteen, Emmanouil decided that it was time for Lav to enter the throne. A combined marriage and coronation was arranged, and Lav became king and married Selena, a princess from the nearby kingdom, whom he had never met before.
It was merry days for everyone in Ontolakis, except for one of Lavs elder sisters, Despina, who was hoping to become the next ruler. She had even tried to seduce her uncle Emmanouil, but failed, in an attempt to get the throne. Still, Emmanouil said that only a man could be heir to the throne.
When the first princess was borned, only Selena and Despina were happy. Lav loves his daughter, but was desperatly hoping for a son. Selena doesn't mind (she still longs for her home country, and is hoping to return someday). She does not care about Ontolakis future and to give the country a prince, and she has not learned to love Lav yet.
Despina was happy because she now thought that if Selena couldn't give birth to a heir, then maybe Despina herself could.. if she could give birth to a son and get rid of Lav, maybe her son could be the next king...
When Selena gives birth to another princess, Lav (and Emmanouil) start to get anxious. Emmanouil advices Lav to get a mistress who can give him a son, but Lav refuses, since he wants to be faithful to his wife (even if they are not in love). Still, if Selena gives birth to another daughter, he understands that he has to take measures.
And just when beautiful little Konstantina is born, a scandal is shaking the country!! Apparently, Despina was caught killing her first-born baby, little Abia. She was drowning the girl in a lake, far into the forest, when a gang of local hunters caught her. But it was too late, Abia was already dead. No one understands why Despina would kill the little girl, except Emmanouil, who knows how desperate and mad Despina has become...
The first princess is named after Eamon, a well-known warrior from a country far, far away, that once saved Evangelos from a dangerous wolf by sacrificing his own life. Her middlename is the feminine version of Evangelos, and her other middlename is the name of one of Selenas sisters.
The second princess's first MN is after her father's name. Her second MN is after one of Selena's sisters.
