[Opinions] Elfi
There's a group of norwegian kids at the camp I am at, and their names are neat: Amanda, Jonas, Eivind, and Elfi. But Elfi's is the neatest. It's not short for anything in her case, but googling I found it's traditionally short for Elfriede. WDYT? Her middle name is Marie.

That's really cute :) I don't think it would work well as a full name in the US (a little too cutesy) but I really like it, especially as a nn for Elfriede.

I think it's adorable! I can actually picture the name on someone of any age too-- it works!

What an adorable nickname! I'm not a big fan of Elfriede but this makes it much more palatable.I like Amanda (and would like it more if it weren't so popular and dated where I live). Jonas is wonderful, too.

Cool. I like it :) Is Marie a filler in Norway too?

I only like Amanda and Jonas. Eivind - I don't know how to say it but it looks wierd. Elfi makes me think of elves.

I love Elfriede! I've never heard of the nn Elfi for it before, but it makes perfect sense. And it's most cute. It's similar to another favorite of mine, Elvy / Elvie, from Elva. There's an English actress named Elvi Hale.I don't think Elfi would work in an English speaking country because of the obvious word "elf." "You mean, like an elf?" would get really, really old. But I love that it is used in Norway.

Elfi is cute. I'm not a big fan of Elfriede, so I'd go for Elfi as a full FN too.I also like Amanda & Jonas. How is Eivind pronounced?

Eivind is like the american pronunciation of Ivan + a near invisible D. I think it's really neat.
