--D: Princess Caroline Florence Lucienne OdileIt has been an eventful two years for the Royal Family of Valinor. King Louis' eldest daughter Anne is now the Queen of Forestmere after the passing of her father-in-law King Edward VI. She gave birth to her first child, a daughter, just a few months after the twins, and went ahead and named her Isabella. Just last year the Kingdom of Forestmere rejoiced at the birth of the heir to the throne, Crown Prince Lysander II, who she and her husband call Sandy. During a lull in the rumors of Queen Francoise's supposed infidelity, Louis arranged Therese's marriage to the Prince of Xanthos, hoping to secure the military alliance that he lost with Mare after Isabella's death. Therese was reluctant to leave her younger siblings in the clutches of "La Vache," but now that Cecile was older, Therese trusted her to keep the younger children's best interests in heart. She writes frequent letters to make sure everything is all right. Two years after the twins' birth, Francoise gives birth to another girl, Princess Caroline. Since then, rumors have been stronger than ever of not only Francoise's infidelity--most rumors pointed to one of Louis' advisors, the young Duke Laurent de Colignac--but there are ever-increasing claims of Princess Caroline not being his, to such an extent that Louis' advisors are pressuring him to do something about her lest his reputation be tarnished. Louis had suspected Francoise of being unfaithful for some time--not that it mattered when she was but his mistress, of course--but now that she was Queen and had possibly given birth to another man's child, it was a different matter entirely. Louis pays off a few of her ladies-in-waiting to give him daily reports of her doings, and resolves to get to the bottom of the matter.Francoise haughtily laughs off the rumors to her peers and advisors, but is very worried of her fate. She knew Louis was a shrewd, determined man that would find what he sought. She was sure of the paternity of the twins--she had taken her mother's advice to "only take on passengers when she knew the boat was full," and the twins were both the spitting image of the King--but Caroline was different. She had been careless. She resolved to limit her clandestine meetings with the Duc de Colignac. And something seemed off with her maids...
