[Surname] D'Evelin surname
Any D'Evelin's out there?
I understand this is FRENCH, may have gone to Develin and Devlin on move to Ireland.
I have no idea what it means other than 'of Evelin', or 'belonging to Evelin'

Devlin does not have a French origin as you can see at http://www.ancestry.com/facts/devlin-name-meaning.ashx, and D'Evelin is not a surname, French or otherwise, as far as I can determine.
I agree with Marc. Evelin/Evelyn may survive as a surname, but it is a double diminutive of the female given name Eve. I believe I've seen the name D'Evelin before, but it is a dressed up version of the Irish surname Devlin. The attempt to make names look French had a vogue in Victorian times. I'm reminded of Michael Davitt's story of the lady named Biddy Murphy who changed her name to Bidelia Pomme de Terre.
