Year One
Our long-time goal of owning a farmhouse outside of Port Elizabeth, South Africa has been accomplished!
Year Two
Gave birth to a straight-brown-haired, brown-eyed boy on Christmas! He was named Albert Vincent, after Vincent van Gogh.
Year Three
My grandmother was diagnosed with Stage Four liver cancer. She died within the year.
Year Four
Terminus’ brother was in a car crash. Luckily, he wasn’t critically hurt, just banged up a bit.
Year Five
Gave birth to identical twin girls! They both have straight blonde hair and hazel eyes. The girls were born in Lesotho; Terminus and I were visiting some of my family with Albert when my water broke. We named our tow-headed girls Johanna Monet and Veronica Georgia; their first names are after women in our families, Johanna’s middle name is after Claude Monet, and Veronica’s middle name is after Georgia O’Keefe.

Terminus’ grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Year Seven
I have had a job transfer! I used to work out of an office in Port Elizabeth, but my boss decided to transfer to a different building in Ibhayi, which is right next to Port Elizabeth, and she took me with her.
Year Eight
Gave birth to a curly-black-haired and brown-eyed girl on Easter! We named her Sylvia Henriette, after Terminus’ brother.
Year Nine
Terminus’ brother was in another car crash! This time he broke both legs and had a sizable gash on his forehead.
Year Ten
Gave birth to another girl! She has wavy red hair and green eyes! Her birth was pretty uneventful (as far as giving birth can be called “uneventful”), but it was certainly a surprise to find she looked nothing like Terminus, me, Albert, Johanna, Veronica, and/or Sylvia. We named her Abigail Presley, since both Terminus and I are big Elvis fans.
Year Eleven
Gave birth to (finally!) another boy! He has curly blond hair and hazel eyes. This little boy was so eager to join our family he was born two months premature! We named him Barnaby Terminus, obviously after Terminus himself.
Year Twelve
Albert, who has been dying to drive solo on Terminus’ tractor since his daddy first took him for a ride, has finally achieved his goal! Terminus let Albert drive the tractor around the field once all on his own (under Terminus’ supervision, of course).
Year Thirteen
Gave birth to sextuplets! Our first boy, named Asa Ferdinand, has straight red hair and hazel eyes; our first girl, named Elsbeth Claudia, has wavy black hair and blue eyes; our second and third boys, named Ivor Nathaniel and Octavian Clarence, are identical with straight red hair and brown eyes; our second girl, named Ursula Phoebe, also has straight red hair and brown eyes; and our third girl, named Yseult Amelia, has curly black hair and brown eyes. The ‘tuplets were born in the same hospital as Johanna and Veronica were (there’s something about that hospital and multiples!). We were, again, visiting my family in Lesotho when my water broke! Apparently, we can’t visit my family, especially when I’m pregnant…
Year Fourteen
Lately, Albert, Johanna, Veronica, and Sylvia have been begging for a dog, but with so many little ones at home, Terminus and I told them that the last thing we needed was one more thing underfoot. Of course, one day Albert comes home with a puppy trailing after him. “It followed me home!” he tells me, (of course) followed by, “Can we keep him?” Thus was Kevin, a golden-lab mix, added to the family. He is the responsibility of the older kids and they’ve done a pretty good job keeping up with him.
Year Fifteen
Terminus and I have been given the gift of a second honeymoon! We decided to go to New York while our families watched the kids.
