[Opinions] Lorelei
This name popped into my head this morning and I find myself giving it another chance. I used to really dislike it, because of its connection to The Gilmore Girls, a show I could not stand. But now the association is not as strong and I find it's rather pretty, has a neato mythological source, and is similar to my mom's name to boot.
What do you think of the name Lorelei? Its popularity is rising, but it's still way down on the charts. How would you combo it, were you to use it?
thanks!

I never would've thought to use it, but it's nice. And I have very positive Gilmore Girls associations as I love the show and own all 7 seasons! So that makes it a better name for me than otherwise!

Lorelei Freya
Lorelei Zara
Lorelei Teagan

Lorelei is wonderful!
I seem to be one of the few people who really dislike it. It's just...not my style I suppose. It has a pretty sound though.
If I were to use it I would probably use something like...
Lorelei Juniper
Lorelei Winifred
Lorelei Theodosia
Lorelei Posy
HTH

Lorelei is a really gorgeous name. It has an interesting set of sounds. And I like the nn Rory from in Gilmore Girls (I liked the show, but it is a count against Lorelei/Lorelai anyway). It also makes me think of the member of the elite 4 in Pokemon... but that's really probably just me.

It's very pretty and melodious. I've never met one or even heard of one, so it has no associations for me at all. Thus I am utterly clueless about what to pair it with! Woe.

Some beautiful choices as usual Wordsmith!
Lorelei Augusta - Lorelei seems to love regal, proud names; she looks so good with them
Lorelei Edwina - agreed
Lorelei Estelle - the sound of the water on that alluring rock- liquid crashing, so beautiful.
Lorelei Odette - swan-beautiful!
Lorelei Paulina
Lorelei Ramona
Lorelei Sieglinde - oh German myths and stories, be still my heartstrings
Lorelei Wanda - magical wonder and witch-spells! I can't get enough of it.

I love it! It has a very pleasing sound and I love the mythology as well. I usually put it in the mn spot but I think it would make a fantastic fn as well.
My husband loves this name. I think it is really pretty, and the place Lorelei (Loreley) is beautiful. I like the nn Rory. I can't quite decide if I like the mythological story attached to the name -- a mysterious woman who lures men to their doom!
I have seen only a couple of times Gilmore Girls and didn't really like it. So I don't associate Lorelei with the show, and try to keep it that way. :)

Lorelei Paige
Lorelei Emma
Lorelei Delaney
Lorelei Sienna
Lorelei Soleil
Lorelei Corinne
Lorelei Aurelia
Tristan Lorelei
Eliana Lorelei
Samantha Lorelei
I hope these help some. Good luck. :)

I really like it, but because of it's connection to Gilmore Girls, a show I love xD it's a Connecticut thing (it's so true). I also really love Lorelei nn Rory too.
I never tried to make a combo out of it before but:
Mary Lorelei
Alice Lorelei
Anna Lorelei
Serafina Lorelei
Theresa Lorelei
Lorelei Alice
Lorelei Ayelet
Lorelei Hadassah
Lorelei Augustine
Lorelei Therese

I think it's lovely. I tend to think of mythology rather than Gilmore Girls, which I've never watched. Spelling it Lorelei rather than Lorelai like the character might possibly deter people from associating it with the show. The good thing is that the myth was around well before the show, so I'm sure that a good number of people would probably realize that (at least I hope so).
Lorelei is on my list, and I'd like to use it as a middle name. One of my favorite Lorelei combos is Lorelei Winter.
