A few months after Louie was born Hallie was able to find a job as a waitress in a Nashville cafe. And after a few months of hard work she managed to get the two of them a rundown apartment. She didn't care though. As long as she and Louie had a place to live she was happy. Life was going really good for them until a couple years later Hallie's friend from work, Tess, asked her to go on a road trip with her and a couple other girls. Her friend Veronica from the shelter offered to watch Louie, so she went. She had a blast, but after a night of dancing and drinking at a club somewhere in Oklahoma and a one night stand with a guy she barely remembers, Hallie got pregnant. She was incredibly mad at herself for being so irresponsible and promised herself, and Louie, that she'd never do anything stupid like that again.
Nine months later, while serving a costumer a slice of pie at the cafe, Hallie's water broke. Tess drove her to the hospital and an hour later beautiful little Sabelle Bessie Phyllida Carter (or Bella as she decided to call her) was born. She fell in love with her baby girl immediately and so did 3 year old Louie when he saw her. (Bessie is after one of her favorite singers, Bessie Smith, and Phyllida is after her grandmother who died when she was 10)
