I like Katja and Kseniya. I actually know several Russians named Kseniya (or its root Xenia).

One thing that confuses me is why the nn to Nataliya is Natasha, I've known that for a while but have never known why??

Natasha is formed by the root of Natalya which is "Nat-" and "-asha/sha", a common ending for Russian pet names. For example, a pet form of Daria is Dasha, which uses the "Da-" from Daria and the ending "-asha", "Masha" for Maria and so forth. Other pet forms of Natalya can be Natachka, Natanka, etc. There isn't a standard list of pet names for any one given name. Once you get past the traditional nicknames of a particular name, it's customary to "make them up". Any person could have a dozen pet names, if so desired. There's a saying that the more pet names/nicknames people give you, the more they like you. :) Names such as Tatiana and (Y)ekaterina have many, many nicknames. _____

Nataliya, Tatiyana / Tatiana, Nadezhda (nah-desh-da)(I know a Nadezhda and she gets called by the nickname Nadia, I don't know why 'cause I think Nadezhda is such a pretty name!!), And in the same family there's Ileana (il-e-ana), I'm not sure if this is Russian or Romanian but it's so pretty!! Mikhala, Annushka.Check out this site. It's of Russian names and their nicknames =)

Miroslava, Evgeniya, and Bogdana. I like a lot of Russian girls' names when I see them, really. But I can always recall these three and they make my favorites list when put up against all kinds of names, not only ethnic-specific ones, if that makes sense. :-)

I'd say Nikita, which I see as a girls name, and is used as one here in Denmark, and most of Europe. But in reality it is a boys name in Russia. And Nikita's my very fave for a girl.So other name I like is:
Galina -- My second fave girls name just after Nikita.
Marina
Natalya
Svetlana
YelenaThat's all I can think off.
