my married surname is BLACOW, we live southern england. all other blacows live lancashire, can any one tell me the origin of this surname? we cant find it anywhere...

Blacow is from the placename Blackhall in Lancashire which is pronounced Blackow.

wow, thanks marc. where can i find out more about this? did they live there, own it or what do you think? this is really exciting. i've searched for ages to find something out about this name without any luck so thank you.

I'm afraid I can't tell you much more than what I found at http://is.gd/dbvTP, http://is.gd/dbw2p and http://is.gd/dbwas. One has to assume that the name Blacow was given to someone who came from Blackhall but only genealogical research would give you the full particulars.
