[Opinions] Re: Magnus

It is a little "Magnus Magnusson" for me, just a touch too much big, blond Scandinavian strongman. A friend of mine has a son Max with a very Finnish surname; he wanted to name him Magnus but his wife wouldn't have it. :-D So Max was the compromise.
I just have a hard time moving past that strongman image. That's what my friend loved about it. He's a weightlifter with, like, thighs that don't fit into conventional pants. o_O It's manly, ueber-manly, almost exaggeratedly manly.
If if was someone else's favorite I could like it. It won't be my favorite, I don't think. Although it would tickle me to see a baby with a "big man name," kind of like how it can be funny to see a baby with an "old man name." :-)
It's a nice combo. I think James is kind of boring and it drags it down, but it doesn't make it unbearable. Magnus Peter would be awesome on its own. Off the top of my head I also like Magnus Lawrence, Magnus Richard and Magnus Rainer.
