[Opinions] Virtue
What do you think of virtue/Puritan names? Would you use some yourself?
I like Grace, Verity, Hope, Felicity, Prudence. But some can be a bit weird (Temperance, Thankful, Silence etc)
What virtue names do you like and have you heard any really odd ones?

I like Joy, Felicity and Clemency but the others don't do it for me at all. I used to enjoy Verity, but then I met a Verily and my diodes got scrambled. Ruth is extremely good, but a bit of a stretch!

I really like virtue names. Amity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Mercy, Verity, Wisdom, Remember, Felicity, Prosper, Temperance... probably some others, too.ETA: Faith and Merit - I like those as well.

I actually like Virtue as a name for a boy or girl! I also went to school with a girl named Modesty.I know 2 little girls called Purity and Serenity. I love the name Serenity! I know a little boy called Serene.

I find virtue names to be ridiculous, since most these days do not live up to their name. Maybe, Brutus or Goliath would be more realistic virtue names, actually those are anti-examples.

I like Felicity, Joy, Hope, and Prudence, but only for the NN Prue. Faith is pretty, but a bit too religious for me.

My husband once knew a man named Silence (French pronounciation) and one named Tranquille ((also French). These guys were quite elderly.

I wouldn't use them. I like Joy and Amity, though, and Grace is alright. I don't really care for any others.

I like Verity and Prudence and Clemency and Constance, and Comfort as a GP.

I love Temperance and Mercy. I don't consider Temperance to be weird, or at least not as weird as Thankful or Silence. I quite like Reason but that's a GP.
Merit is nice too, if you consider that a virtue name (I rather like to think of it as an Egyptian name).

I don't think they're too bad, especially not the ones that are more common, such as the first group you mentioned. I like Grace, Hope, Faith, Temperance and Mercy.

I used to love a book in the Dear America series (diaries from fictional girls at different points in history) when I was in middle school about Puritan times. Her name was Remember Patience (I believe she went by "Mem"). There was another one in the series named Deliverance (totally unusable, I think, due to the book/movie "Deliverance"!).I also like some others:
Mercy
Grace
Hope
Faith
Constance
Amity (nn "Amy"?)
Felicity
Clemence (I think this counts as a virtue name?)I'd probably only consider Hope, Faith or Grace for actual names.

Virtue names are so pretty, in my mind. I like Justice, Faith, Charity, Chastity, Sofia, Joy, Clarity, Fidelity, Honesty, Patience, and others. Obedience would be a weird one. I'm not sure if it is actually a name or not, though. I would totally use them!
