Help[Opinions] Eugenie
This is a name that I like. Do you think it's too stuffy? Does it remind you of an older woman with a bust sticking out like a prow, dressed in lace, and staring through a lorgnette? That's what my brother-in-law said.
I can't think of any nicknames for it, though, and it does seem like a bit of a mouthful to say all of the time. I wonder if Princess Eugenie is always called Eugenie.
I always thought she was much luckier than her sister, by the way, as I despise Beatrice.

I like it - I like Eugenia too but hate Eugene - go figure. My idea of it don't match your brother-in-law's - the only Eugenie I knew(she died) was tall and blonde, very pretty and sweet and painfully naive and a little dumb. I think of the Empress too - not necessarily a good thing.

I wish that's what it reminded me of! What an awesome description.
I won't say that I dislike it, but something about it sounds really dorky. Like, braces and a haircut with terrible bangs kind of dorky.
I do like Eugenia, though. The little flip of a -ia at the end gives it a touch of something that makes it pretty. I don't automatically default to -ia or other frills as an attractive ending--you know, I'm not a "Lilia over Lily" kind of person--but in this case it really does improve it to me. It just gives it a smoother exit.
I am absolutely not a fan of Beatrice either. It comes out of your mouth so flat and ugly, like spitting out tobacco.

I love Eugenie. I pronounce it "yoo-JEE-nee". I like the nickname Genie.
The princess pronounced her name more like "YOU-jenny" and apparently is nicknamed "yooj" by her friends. I read an interview in some fashion mag a while back.

It's nice enough, but not great. I find it a bit monotonous, for lack of a better word, soundwise, but I don't think it's stuffy or old-ladyish. Overall, I prefer Eugenia.

Eugenie's elegant. It reminds me of the lovely Empress Eugenie of France. I prn it YOO-jih-nee. That sounds less stuffy to me than oo-zhay-NEE.

I think Eugenia is a tad on the stuffy side, but Eugenie is quite cute, youthful, and bouncy. I really like both of them, and go back and forth on which one I prefer.
Oh, there are very cute nicknames for Eugenie - Gin/Ginny and Genie. I guess they make more sense if you pronounce it in English, but meh.

I really like Eugenie. It sounds feminine but not overly so. You could use Genie, Gennie, or Gen as nicknames.
