[Facts] Where was the name Spirit started?
Where was the name Spirit started? What country, actually. And I'd also like to know the popularity for it. I can't find it anywhere, and I'd really like to know how many people in the world have the name Spirit.
Thank you!*** To live, to love, to learn. To be happy, generous, and safe. To know you can protect the ones you love from all evil. That is what I dream about.
I don't know the meaning of life. But I know my meaning: Protection. ***

Probably in the U.S., more like Haight-Ashbury during the age of the hippie in the 1960's. That would be a possibility, according to my knowledge ofthe Go-Go 60's

I don't know about the world, but according to howmanyofme.com, there are fewer than 1,547 people named Spirit in the U.S.

There is a very old French name Esprit, which is the name of a Catholic saint and refers to the Holy Spirit.I would imagine that Spirit is the direct English translation of the French name. (Which is male). I have also seen the feminine name Spirita used in medieval documents, often spelled Sprota or Sprotta. I'd imagine this may also be one of the origins of the name.
