Just a few months after the twin princesses' engagements, Prince Blaise surprised the entire royal family (and planet!) by announcing that he plans to marry a local commoner, a girl named Helen Richardson. At first, the entire Alliance watched in anticipation for the daring prince's parents' reaction. They were, however, given another shock when the king and queen simply declared that if Blaise and Helen really love each other, they shall be allowed to marry by the time Helen (the younger of the two) is at least twenty-one. And with three more years to go before their marriage, Blaise and Helen were content to wait.
It was after this happy moment that a catastrophe struck. King Arsene was suddenly taken ill at the palace, and it was suspected that he was a victim of poisoning. Intensive investigation led to the conclusion that the king's drink had been laced with strychnine, and all were glad that the king had only taken a small sip. All, that is, save the culprit...
With such an incident, King Arsene was incapacitated and placed at hospital for some time. The responsibility of his duties were then placed upon his young son Arthur's shoulders. Prince Arthur was only twenty-one at the time, and more than frightened at the prospect of becoming king suddenly, even for such a short time! His mother, siblings, and especially fiancee gave him the support he needed, and Art was soon on his feet organising the search for the person who had poisoned his father.
After some time in hospital, King Arsene was back to the castle, and was greeted with an unexpected news: while reigning in his stead, his son Art had managed to capture the person responsible for his murder attempt! The culprit was Lady Drage, a lady-in-waiting of the queen and spy for the separatist group from New Ithaca. She was promptly imprisoned, but even though King Arsene was very grateful and proud of his son, he was still worried, for the separatists have tried an attempt on his life, and it was certain that they will strike yet again...
