Immediately after our wedding was a little bit soon for Cameron and I to find out that we were expecting (especially with both of us still finishing our degrees). But when September 13th rolled around and Nigel Jonathan Sparks came into the world, neither of us could've been more thrilled. He's such a happy baby, with his adorable curly red hair.

Year 2: Birth
A little over a year later, Cameron and I both finished our degrees and started our own businesses (a clinic and a restaurant, respectively). Also, Nigel got a little brother, Allegro Matthew Sparks. Born on October 9th, Allegro is another darling redhead who looks a lot like his daddy. Nigel adores his baby brother but is impatient for little Al to grow up a bit and get more entertaining.

Year 3: Pet
The stream near our cottage was filled with polliwogs in the spring, and Nigel, precocious as always, insisted on taking one home. He and Allegro watched it grow up into a frog, bickering a bit over the name before finally deciding on Frog Princess (usually shortened to just Princess) after one of their favorite stories. Nigel sometimes refers to her as his little sister. Cameron and I have discussed trying to give him a real one after my restaurant and his clinic get a bit more established in the small town.

Year 4: Family Event
Cameron's best friend got married in early summer, and our whole family turned out to attend. I made the cake, Cameron was the best man, and Nigel and Allegro were both ring bearers. Everyone came up to us afterward to say how absolutely adorable they were, even with Al nearly swallowing one of the rings and Nigel stopping to talk to people as he walked down the aisle. Al ate too much cake and ended up with a stomache ache, pouting all the way home, but his daddy and big brother did their best to comfort him.

Nigel's wish for a baby sister finally came true on January 31st. Ruby Cecelia Sparks arrived twice as loud as both her brothers and with the same red hair. Nigel is fascinated by how little she is, though Allegro seems a bit jealous and has been spending a lot more time with Princess the frog since Ruby was born.

Year 6: Family Event
We had a bit of a scare this year with Allegro falling out of a tree that he and his brother were trying to climb (even after they were told not to!). I rushed Al to Cam's clinic, and Cameron carefully put three stitches in his son's head. It was terrifying, but Al was really brave. He didn't even cry until being told that he and Nigel were grounded.

My father David died this year, which was really awful. I cried for days before and after the funeral, but Cam, Nigel, Al, and even little Ruby were all so sweet trying to make me feel better. Dad left our family a sizeable inheritance, three trusts for the kids and some extra for Cam and me. We'll probably use the money to expand our businesses, and I was thinking of donating some to the city to build a park in Dad's honor.

I found out I was pregnant early in the year, and no matter what the baby was being named after Dad. Davina Rosemary Sparks was born early on June 28th, another redhead and another curly like Nigel. Nigel goes on and on about how pretty she is and always wants to help take care of her. Allegro isn't quite as jealous this time around and, like his brother did when he was born, just keeps asking when she'll be big enough to play with. Ruby, on the other hand, has taken to throwing tantrums over everything and nothing. She absolutely hates not being the baby anymore, but Cam and I are confident that she'll adjust.

I was invited to be a bridesmaid at the wedding of a friend from college. Cam and I made the trip alone this time, not wanting to drag the littler kids clear across the country. The trip was a lot of fun, and Cam and I got to spend some extra time together.

Well, the extra time spent together at that wedding turned into another baby for the Sparks family! Miriam Finnegan Sparks was born on July 24th, and everyone was excited to meet our youngest, another redhead. Nigel adores her like he does all his little siblings. Ruby doesn't mind her much, having really bonded with Allegro over their love of Princess. Davina is just fascinated by the baby. Cam and I have decided that Miriam will definitelly be our last. We love our family just the way it is.
