[Opinions] Juliet?
Opinions on the girls names Juliet? Do you prefer Juliet or Juliette?I think it is quite beautiful. The only thing that throws me off is the Shakespear connection. It is not a bad thing, I love Shakespears plays and have read many of them. I'm just worried that is all people will think of when they hear it. How do you think it sounds with Andreas? We were planning on using Julian if we had two boys. I absolutley adore the name Julian. But if we have a girl I thought Juliet would be a nice too. That way I still get my Jules :)Juliet Elizabeth is my favorite combo. Juliet Rosalie would be an option too. But Elizabeth has family significance. Thanks!

I honestly don't think ShakespeareWhich makes me a little weird I see, especially considering I adore Shakespeare plays and study English literature...I do see it - but it's not the first thing I think when I hear the name. I think its a lovely name - really pretty. The one combo I would steer clear of if you want to avoid Shakespeare is Juliet Rosalie... Rosalie is similar to Rosaline, which is the name of the girl Romeo is in love with before Juliet.

I really love it! I used to worry about the Shakespeare connection, but I don't anymore. It's such a beautiful name and I much prefer the Juliet spelling. Juliette is just too much, when you can have the simpler and just as stunning Juliet.

I prefer Juliette (stress on the ETTE instead of the JUL), which seems more artsy and assertive to me. Juliet seems sort of too literary in general to me - fanciful. But Julia is far better than either. Julia is one of the best names in English that there is, all around, as far as I'm concerned.Julian and Andreas sound great together.
I'd go with Juliette Elisabeth, personally.

Oddly enough, I never think about Shakespeare's Juliet when I hear this name; I think of Juliette Lewis. I practically idolized her growing up, so maybe that's why. And if she doesn't change the image to a strong one, I don't know who will.

I love Juliet and slightly prefer the Juliette spelling. I think it's beautiful and doesn't seem weak to me actually but strong in a very feminine, girly way. :) Beautiful. My sister is pregnant and it's on their list.

I adore Juliet but in real life, I'd be more likely to use it as a mn. Re: possible teasing, being asked where her Romeo is isn't that awful. There are other much worse forms of teasing concerning names.Between the two spellings, I suppose with a French surname, Juliette would look stunning, but for the most part, I prefer Juliet. Juliet Rosalie is lovely.I think Andreas and Juliet make a great sibset.

Well, the Shakespeare connection is pretty obvious, though maybe it's not as strong as with something like Ophelia or Desdemona. I don't see why it worries you, since you like Shakespeare and as you say the association 's certainly not bad.I prefer Juliet to Juliette. But I have to say that, while this is certainly not a bad name, I find it slightly prissy and prefer Julia or Juliana.

I think if you want to avoid ShakespeareYou will have to steer clear of Juliet. Julianne, Julianna, Julia, Julienne... but not Juliet. It is just SO connected with the Shakespearian drama. It is a lovely name, but there's no way you won't get the "and Romeo" aspect of it.You could always try Julitta or Julita, an obscure saint, so you get a simailr sounding but Shakespeare-free Jules name.I also think if you like Julian the most, you should hold out for a boy because you NEVER KNOW! :)

Am I the only one who...finds this name a little flimsy and slightly pathetic and submissive due to association? It just screams "weak" to me.

DittoNot a namesake or association I'd want a daughter to have...

I'm totally with youI don't like it at all.

I'm sure you're not the only one, but I don't.

Submissive and weak? Juliet was impetuous, yes. Immature, yes. Then again, wasn't she 14 years old? She was one gigantic walking hormone.

That is what I'm worried about.I dont want people associating the character in Romeo and Juliet to my daughter. And I definetly dont want her to have a weak name.

I like the name. It is definitely pretty, but I wouldn't use it because is a bit too 'fluffy' for my taste. I prefer Juliet... she is frilly enough already. It sounds fine with AndreasJuliet Elizabeth is my fave of the two combos you listed.

I love then name Juliet (spelt like that). And why worry about the Shakespeare connection? At least it's a good connection. Juliet Elizabeth is a great combo. I prefer it to Juliet Rosalie. Another combo I quite like is Juliet Sparrow.

I adore Juliet. She is sweet, romantic and classy. She goes exceptionally well with Andreas. I prefer Juliet because it looks cleaner to me that way.Juliet Rosalie is beautiful. If you want to keep Elizabeth, have you ever considered using two middle names? Like Juliet Rosalie Elizabeth?

I'm not a huge fan of the two middle name thing. It does seem to be the in thing now though. Juliet Renee is another family name I would consider. Juliet Ann Elizabeth or Juliet Anna would also work.
