[Games] Re: You say, You think
1. This is my son Taylor.
You say: "Oh. Um, hi!"
You think: Like Taylor Lautner? And Taylor Swift? Ughhhhhhhhh. Poor kid.2. This is my daughter Catina.
You say: "Catina? Really? Is there a story behind that?"
You think: I really, really hope it wasn't actually meant to be Katrina. Or a "special" version of Katrina. Hopefully it's a cultural name, which would make it quite pretty.3. This is my daughter Lucia.
You say: "That's the coolest name ever!"
You think: That's really an amazing choice. I'm so glad they aren't like those lame "trendy" parents... and there are sooo many ways to pronounce Lucia. Do they do it the Italian way? the Scandinavian way? the anglicized way? Wow.4. This is my son Lincoln.
You say: "That's pretty cool."
You think: I knew a kid called Lincoln once... he was kind of nerdy. 5. This is my son Kyler.
You say: "Oh."
You think: Not ANOTHER one of those types of names... I don't think I'm going to like these people very much...6. This is my daughter Addison.
You say: "Ha! Oh my gosh! That's my last name!"
You think: Please stop spoiling my last name. If you are going to use it, use it for a boy. Otherwise it is an overly trendy version of Madison, and that's just not cool.7. This is my son Kenton.
You say: "Cool."
You think: WHY do all the trendy names begin with "k"? Ugh.8. This is my daughter Penelope.
You say: "Really? That's really cool -- does she have any siblings?"
You think: Oh my gosh! They're my kind of people! They like names! Penelope by itself isn't my favorite name ever, but I like names similar to it... I bet I'd love her siblings' names... I think I'm going to like these people. They're not the sort to call their kid "Kiyla" or "Kamrynne".9. This is my daughter Ileana.
You say: "Really? I know someone named Ileana!"
You think: Well, it's actually Iliana, but it's still a nice name.10. These are my twins, Keegan and Katrin.
You say: "Really? That's neat."
You think: I like both of those names -- Katrin for the European background and Keegan for the Irish -- but together, they sound trendy and overly twinsy. They sound like an attempt at trendiness that hit accidentally came close to avoiding it... hmm. I'm going to pretend they named their kids because of the German/Irish appeal, not because of that. Even though I know they did.
