[Opinions] Elijah or Josiah?
Which do you prefer? I recently found out I was descended from a twin whose name was Elijah and he had a twin named Josiah.

I'm a bit torn. I prefer the way Elijah sounds, and in terms of nicknames, I prefer Eli to Joe, so I'd probably be more inclined to go with Elijah even though it's more popular. A boy named Josiah could go by Si, which I like, but it looks like it would be pronounced "see." Neither Elijah nor Josiah needs a nickname, however.

Ooowh, I like both of these.
Josiah is probably more rare, but I think I like the sound of Elijah better.
I'd end up calling them Joss and Eli probably.
If it were my child, I'd probably use Elijah, but I don't know for sure because Josiah is quite pleasant as well. I like that they both sound perfectly boyish, but not butch. I like that they are both old names but have nickname possibilities. Can't pick an overall favourite though. hmm...

Well, neither names would catch on where I live. Biblical names just aren't popular, we don't have a huge Christian majority here, so the long -iah names I have only association with on these boards and on TV from Westerns. I imagine both men to be wearing checkered shirts and wearing a cowboy hat. I think Elijah has a nice sound though, and if I ever met one then it could grow on me.

I prefer Elijah but I think Elijah and Josiah make a nice sib set.

I love them both. If pressed I would probably pick Elijah because boys with J names tend to be a little naughtier than most ;)

Elijah. It sounds more masculine and not as trendy as Josiah.

JosiahIt's more interesting and has more of a feel. Elijah is more generic and trendy, and I don't like the "jah" sound.

I prefer Josiah. I just think it sounds a little nicer, and though this wouldn't have any relevancy to your ancestors, Josiah is less popular these days than Elijah.

JosiahI find Elijah to be puzzlingly flat, probably due to its popularity, on par with the likes of Nathan or Zachary. Josiah is more unexpected and piques my interest more.

Hmmm. I just can't see myself being affected by the popularity of any specific name if I love it.

Fair enough. I was only speaking for myself of course.
