[Opinions] Christie for a boy?

I have a special attachment to Christie (my maiden name)... debating whether or not we'd use for our boy? I like it, even though it'd more commonly be interpreted as a girl’s name. I don’t want to be cruel, though.Thoughts?

It sounds like a pleasant Scottish shortening of Christopher, and I'd use it gladly. I certainly don't hear it as fem, but then I'm not American.

Errm, I wouldn't, but I guess it would be okay.

I think it'd be cruel. Even though it's kind of cool, I'd never name a boy Christie.

Christie/Christy is a boy's name in Ireland. It used to be the nn for Christopher - nowadays it is usually just Chris though and Christy is for older men. It's pretty common though. In fact the only female Christy I know is American (and she spells it with a K I think).I think Christie would work for a boy(as a nn for Christopher maybe).

I think lots of Surnames work as boys first names and Christie is not exception. Go for it :) It sounds handsome to me anyway

Yeah I think that it would only be okay if it is a nn or middle name.

Yes!I love Christie as a nn for Christopher! So awesome. I don't think I'd condone using it as a full name for a boy, not only because of the nicknameyness, but just because it's seen as a feminine name these days. Christopher is a nice, handsome, solid, general name to fall back on if he so wishes in his future.

I like the idea of Christie for a boy too, it's so quaint, but no doubt schoolchildren will think it NOT so quaint. What about Christian or Christopher, nn Christie? If you like you could always just use it as a pet name at home.I like using it in the middle too, but there is the risk of other, not so kind kids thinking that "little Jimmy has a girl's middle name"But if you really love it, then use it! It fits in well with your troop of vaguely British boys :)

Use it as a middle name.
