i names my 5 month old daughter Pearl Evangeline Sheena (Sheena after mil who died before she was born. Pearl joins brother Elijah David and sister Iris Matilda. i am happy with all my kids names and i love the name Pearl and everyone comments on how unusual it is and how they like it. HOWEVER . . . she was recently introduced to some relatives who live a way away and they said we should have used Pearl as a middle name as it is too out there and called her EVe something more 'normal'. THis is bearing in mind i am in England and Elijah and Iris are also very unusual here and not even in top 1000, yet they never commented on these.
What do you think?

Pearl is a very pretty name. I don't think it's weird. It's not common among young children but it isn't a bizarre name.

I think Pearl is very pretty and what is so weird about this name. Names like Amber, Jade and Ruby are also used in England, so a Pearl would fit in. Maybe you will be ahead of the trend!
If you love Pearl, go with Pearl Evangeline Sheena, it is such a beautiful name.
Personally I would perhaps use Evelyn Pearl or Angeline Pearl. Not b/c Pearl is too old-fashioned, it is just that I prefer one-syllabic names as mn. But this is just me

Oh good, I'm glad you're not thinking of changing it. I ADORE the name Pearl, as well as your other kids' names (Iris Matilda is one of my favorite combos, btw). And trust me, except for Elijah, your kids' names are far less common here in the U.S. than they are there, I believe. :b Also I think Pearl Evangeline Sheena is gorgeous, love that you honored gm that way.

There is nothing wrong with the name Pearl! It's really pretty and sounds great as a fn OR a mn. I love your kid's names, they're gorgeous!

I think Pearl is a perfectly lovely name, whether it be first or middle. Often in my combos I use it as middle, only because there are names I like better.
I think Pearl Evangeline is gorgeous and adding your MIL's name makes it very special.

I've been thinking about Pearl a lot lately, since there's a girl in one of my classes with the name. My first impression was that it sounds really old-fashioned and I couldn't really imagine it on the Pearl I know, who is 17 and just a regular teenage girl. The more I think about it though, the more I like it.
And, just out of interest, where in England do you live? I live in Newcastle, and people say Pearl really weirdly here!
