[Opinions] Avery
Avery is one of the only boy names we like for a boy. Is it too feminine now to use? I don't want people assuming he is a girl(this isn't imminent but I am concerned based on the popularity charts).

I had to look at the charts to see for myself. I'm shocked to see it at #38 for girls. I do hear it often though, and unfortunantly it is never on a boy. I like the name for a boy personally. I dont know how other people will view it though.
Avery is one of the few names I don't have a gender preference for. I like it a lot (for both a boy and girl).
I was at work the other day and I heard a mother scolding her daughter named Avery. I don't personally find it feminine, but it seems to be another masculine surname that is being taken over by girls. Based on numbers and not my personal preference, I would assume it was a girl if I heard the name.
Avery is a surname. Surnames are used for both. People associate three-syllable names ending in -y with girls, probably on the analogy of Cecily, Dorothy, Marjorie etc. But, people are also happy to use Gregory, Jeremy and Timothy for boys. You does your naming and you takes your choice.
Avery is wonderful for a boy. I'm a teacher and over the years I've worked with two Averys. Both were boys. I've never met a girl Avery.
I love Avery on a boy, and would definiatly use it!!
I think it's handsome. I was shocked when I learned a year or so ago that Avery was being used on girls. I've never seen it on a girl. I've only seen male Averys and can't imagine it on a girl. Blech.
My brother in law is name Avory... same prn. To me it seems masculine because of that...
Avery is gorgeous on a boy.
I've personally never even met a single girl named Avery, but I have met a few boys with the name over the years.
It's not really feminine sounding at all and it's a surname as well which isn't gender specific.
I say to go ahead and use it! Don't let someone else using it for their daughter scare you away from using it for your son. It's a perfectly nice name and doesn't need to be given up on for boys at all. I'd be very happy to meet a little boy Avery any day. :)
Good luck. :)
